"Jayde! It's dinner time!" Victoria calls me with a sing-song voice from the kitchen. I hop off my new bed in the Beckham mansion and put my phone on charge. I slip on my Nike free runs and bolt down the stairs to the kitchen. I take a seat at the smooth, oak table, which was empty. Well, except for Brooklyn on the other end, earphones plugged in and jamming to some sort of weird music.
"Oh, Jayde! Didn't expect you to be down here right now," he looks up from his phone, a gold iPhone 6. Spoilt much. Even though it is 2015 and everyone is getting them or the new Samsung and Sony phones, I'm still stuck with a 2011 iPhone 4S, hand-me-down from dad because mum thinks I'll turn into the spoilt rich kids, a.k.a the Beckhams. Which is hypocritical, because she buys all the designer brands for herself.
"Where's all the others?" I ask Brooklyn. I'm still a bit timid with everyone in the mansion, since I've only been here for a few hours.
" Romeo's outside playing soccer and I have no idea what Cruz is up to. Hell knows what he's doing every hour of the day." The comment about Cruz made me chuckle a bit. I then heard faint voices coming from outside. One was Victoria, shouting out for Cruz and Romeo to come back in. Romeo ran in with mud stains on his cheeks and grass stains on his knees. Cruz was red-faced and puffed out as he entered the kitchen and took his seat next to Brooklyn at the table.
"Aye Cruz! I was going to sit there!" Romeo moaned, his arms folded. Cruz just stuck his tongue out and laughed. Brooklyn was still on his phone with his earphones in. Antisocial much. He then looked at me with a smile. "Fine then Cruz. I'll sit next to Jayde," Romeo smirked as he took his seat next to me. Victoria then entered the kitchen holding Harper, who was laughing and playing with Victoria's hair.
"Mummy, what are we having for dinner?" I heard Harper ask. She's so freaking adorable.
"The simple but elegant dish, pasta. Hopefully you don't mind Jayde?"
"That's fine with me Victoria! Pasta's a great choice." Yes, one of my favourite dishes. I never usually eat many dishes with a lot of carbohydrates in them because I always try to maintain my weight and keep a clean diet. I usually stick with a vegetable and beef salad with a small bowl of rice on the side.
It took a few minutes before everyone had settled around the table and taken their seats. My mum sat on one end of the table with Harper, Victoria, Brooklyn and Cruz while Romeo and I sat on a more empty side just featuring us and David. The meals were elegantly set out on the plate, looking like they just came out from Gordon Ramsey's restaurant. As for the quality of the food, it was the best pasta I had ever tasted. During our meal, we were all pretty quiet, except for Cruz's slurping of the pasta, which made everyone laugh. Once our meal had come to an end, the Beckhams' chef collected all of the plates and cutlery and left us in an awkward silence. This time it was not David who broke it, but Victoria.
"Romeo, Cruz, Brooklyn, can you hang out with Jayde for a bit? Us adults need to sort out some important business issues."
Romeo and Cruz nodded in agreement, although Brooklyn stayed quiet.
"Brooklyn?" Victoria asked. "Brooklyn, can you hear me?" Victoria waited for a few seconds and then ripped out the earphones from Brooklyn's ears.
"Brooklyn!"
"Yes, mum?"
"I've called you like 50 times, but can you please go with Romeo and Cruz and hang out with Jayde for a bit?" Brooklyn gave a small nod and exited out of his seat.
Great. I get personal time with the brats.
