"Hey honey, how was your day?" My mum was dressed in a crisp, white apron, preparing a caesar salad for dinner. She is projected to start working in a week's time, which to her means a weeks more worth of hitting up the gym and flicking through the recent issues of Vogue.

"Great, how was yours?" I said, dumping my heavy bag next to the staircase.

"Like always, normal." She continued to prepare and cut up the tomatoes. I progressed up the stairs, just to take a short lie down and cool myself for a bit. I was still quite jetlagged, and felt like falling asleep in almost every class. As much as I was not bothered to take a shower, I seriously reeked of sweat. I guess that's what you get when you spend the 40 minutes of lunch playing a soccer game with the boys. I'll shower in 10 minutes, I tell myself. In my world, 10 minutes usually means 1 hour, aka playing on my phone and watching YouTube.

After about 20 minutes of lifelessly staring at the blank ceiling, I decide to get up and gather my clothes to take a shower. I stare at myself in the full length mirror, thinking to myself: do I really look that ugly? Why is my face still like a cherry tomato?

I walk to the bathroom, which looks really clean and smells of lavender, which indicates my mum did actually bother to clean up around this place, while here I am, standing in the middle reeking of rotten food. Even I have to admit, I really need to clean up.

*****

30 minutes later, after a warm shower (even though it is so hot outside) I'm finally done showering. It's a record in my books, to be honest. I usually just stand there and do nothing because the water's warm and I don't want to get out. I slip on an oversized Nike shirt and Nike pro shorts. And to add to the collection, I'm also wearing a pair of Nike sliders. I proceed to go to my room and the first thing I check is my phone, obviously. A bunch of notifications pop up on my usually empty lockscreen, which is weird to process since not all the messages are spams from Jaxon.

Abbie: party 2nite. ur invited! don't bring anyone, this is invite only. At 6, my place, hope u can make it! x - Ab

Kay: u going to Abbie's party?

Kay: u got an invite or nah

Kay: BITCH ANSWER UR TXTS

Zac: J! come over to my place now

Zac: Abbies partay

Lana: hey Jaydeee!!! want to hang out someday? it's Lana from tech, remember me? xx

Josh: hey jayde. i've got tickets to a dragons game u wanna go?

Jax: i want food

Jax: food

Jax: Arsenal is no. 3 gj

Jax: they ain't gonna win this yr

Jax: I want chicken

I roll my eyes at Jax's stupid messages, and scroll through to find a bunch of people who I rarely talk to wanting to suddenly hang out. And Abbie's party? She suddenly wants to invite me? Sounds like a prank to me. She's practically a worshipper of Ale's Barbie doll clan, and she isn't close to me, neither does she extremely like me. And since when was I more important than Jax? When Josh has tickets, he always invites Jaxon or Zac. But I'll probably go to Zac's house for the sake of it. Zac has been one of my childhood best friends along with Kay and Jax. I press on my favourites and click on Zac's name. After ringing about 3 times, he picks up and as always, sounds so calm about everything.

"J! You going to Abbie's party?"

"I don't know, to be honest. Why should I go anyways? What's the point?"

"Socialise! I know you hate her, but I'll be there you nugget."

"Ok, I'm coming over, give me 5 minutes."

I decide to look a bit more formal, which means a pair of skinny jeans and an athletics jumper. I sweep my hair up into a ponytail and put on a pair of Converses. I slide down the staircase, where my mum is preparing the chicken.

"Honey, where are you going?"

"Zac's house. Abbie has a party tonight, am I allowed to go?"

"Oh, sweet Abbie! She is such a poised girl. If only you were like that." It pisses me off when my mum compares me with other kids. It's so annoying how she critiques that I'm too muscly, too small, bad posture. Like, get over it, worry about your own life. "Your curfew's 11. Are you going with Zac?"

"Yeah, his sister's taking us."

"Have fun okay?" I can tell my mum is excited - I never go to parties, like ever. Yeah, I'm not exactly the biggest social butterfly, you can say.

I grab an apple from the kitchen counter and run to Zac's house, which is a street down. I knock on his door, where his dad comes to greet me.

"Hey Jayde! Haven't seen you for so long, we've missed you! Zac's upstairs."

"Thanks, Al."

I bound up the stairs, and turn the corner to Zac's room. I tentatively knock on his door - last time I knocked he got pissed because I knocked to loud and interrupted him while watching Man of Steel.

"Jayde!"He engulfed me in a huge bear hug. "Bitch, why did you leave me for so long?"

"Soz, mate. You should've come with me to London, you're modelling skills are pretty great. So is this what your wearing to the party?" I laughed as I stared down his Adidas sweats and Pacman shirt.

"Yeah."

"C'mon, even I don't look that bad."

"I'm not bothered." Seriously, Zac? You were the one that wanted me to come over for Abbie's party. "Fine, get me the Adidas jacket. And the white Adidas shoes."

"You're kidding right?"

"No, I'm Zac."
