I buttoned up my school blouse and took a deep breath. I stared at my plain, old self in the mirror. Today would be my first day back at school in two full months. I picked up my navy blue school bag and tightened the laces of my leather shoes. I felt really anxious for some reason; it felt as if I was moving to someplace else, not going back to the same old high school. But in two months, things can change. But why would I be so worried about change?
In the one hour car ride with Kayden the day before back from the airport, we discussed about all my Beckham adventures, as well as the shoot. I never really did get to ask him if anything or anyone had changed at school. His answer would probably be 'nothing much happened at all', which means 'I don't pay attention to the rest of the school and their arguments because it's not my problem'.
"Jayde, you ready? Come down for breakfast!" I slung my bag over one shoulder and slid down the staircase. "Honey, I made you pancakes!" I looked at the pancakes in awe. I haven't had many calorific foods for ages, because my mum doesn't want me to eat high-sugar foods, even though I exercise a lot and can burn it off. I tuck into the delicious pancakes, which even had an icecream helping on the side. Wow, she must be in a really good mood. As soon as I'd finished, the doorbell rang. I wiped my mouth using a tissue and rushed to the door.
"It's probably Kayden. See you later, mum." I rushed out the door without waiting for her reply. And of course, it was Kayden standing at the front doorstep.
"Ay Kay, I didn't ask you to pick me up. But it's nice of you to do that."
We did our handshake before walking to the bus stop.
"Race you there?" Kayden asked, a sly grin on his face.
"Oh, you're on."
Kayden will beat me? Never gonna happen.
"I win! You lose! Sucker!" I poked my tongue out at him.
"I was just jogging," was his reply. Yeah, totally.
The bus came into view, and we took out our bus tickets out to show the driver. People were staring at me as I got onto the bus. Mostly smiling people that greeted me with hi's and how are you's.
"Jayderina!" There was only one person that called me that.
"Jackoooo!" We fistbumped each other and he patted the two seats next to him. Jaxon and I had been friends since year 3, when we had to sit next to each other in class, after he picked my name out of a hat. He asked me for a pencil, and somehow we just clicked and became friends.
"Heard you did Burberry. Can't believe you stayed with Becks! Lucky."
"Yeah. And she stayed in their mansion. They even had a soccer field in their backyard! She should have stuffed us in her suitcases," Kayden chimed in.
"You guys could have been stuffed into my pink suitcase. It really is your colour Jax." Jaxon laughed, whilst looking down at his pink Nike socks.
The bus came to a sudden holt in front of the school. Us three were the last to get out, and thanked the bus driver. We went into gang formation, which was just us three standing in a straight line, Kayden on the left, Jaxon on the right and me in the middle, because not one of us deserved to stand in front of another.
As soon as we entered the school gates there were gasps. People I didn't even know from other years came up to me and told me I was great, photogenic, pretty. I get told that constantly, but I never let it get to my head. They're probably only saying that to become friends with me because I'm somewhat famous.
"Welcome, Moorefield's newest celebrity. Oh, I forgot to tell you, we have timetable changes. Here," Kayden said. He handed over a folded, sort of crumpled piece of paper towards me. I opened it up and scanned the Monday column. Oh, great. I have maths first.
"Well, well, well. Look who it is. Bitches 1,2 and 3. A little celebrity, huh Jayde? Enjoy you're spotlight." Of course it was Ale and her crew. They've always been on my back since the start of high school. They always gave me hell. Or rather tried to.
"I don't think you can call guys bitches," Kayden said. Us three laughed. I'm so glad I have them behind me.
Alessandra rolled her eyes and teetered off in her 'school shoes'. They were actually just glossy black high heels that were closed in, which somewhat means they are shoes appropriate for school. A few of Ale's friends gave me the stink eye but winked at Jax and Kayden. Jax and Kay were pretty popular with the girls, because they were 'really, really hot'. But I have to admit, they are some good looking chaps.
The first bell rang telling us we had to go to first period. Yay, what a great way to start off the day with maths with Miss Conan. My favourite teacher! Not.
I followed the guys to the Room 10. The shutters were closed and the door was locked. I knocked tentatively on the door, three times. I could hear the door knob turning from the inside. The door suddenly burst open.
"Surprise!"
