Chapter 5: Beast

After running off Kaiya laid herself down by a nearby tree leaning her back against it, the team being out of sight.

She thought about Crosshair, how she could feel his heartbeat which is something she never thought was possible for her to do until now, she also thought about what Commander Gree had to say to her, was it about Greed? Was it about the mission? Something else?

She didn't know and she wasn't sure if she wanted to know or not.

As she gets up from her spot she immediately sits back down when she notices Captain Howzer walking in her direction picking up the pace as soon as he notices her sitting down.

"Hey, you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, I just needed a couple minutes to collect myself that's all."

"What happened?"

"You don't wanna know, just be glad I'm still alive."

"You went to go train with the team didn't you, it's pretty obvious, I saw you walking over their."

"Yeah, I was, and let's just say it didn't end well with one of the members."

"Oh no, well, plan on leaving in a couple minutes, you sure your gonna be ready to go?"

"Yeah I'll be fine, I'll just keep my distance around him, so why would the chancellor want something to do with the Zillo Beast? Why is he trying to clone it, it is not a good idea Howzer and we both know that especially me because I was their to see the creature with my own eyes."

"We don't know why he wants to do this but it's best we stay out of it, just get the information and tech he needs and we'll go our separate ways, the chancellor is in charge of everything and were just in charge of keeping each other safe, trust me, we don't want to be involved in politics."

"Howzer, look around you! We already are. Eventually this war is gonna end and we have to be ready."

"How do you know?"

"I owe it to Fives who told me about it, it has something to do with the inhibitor chips in all the clones, he believed that the chancellor was in charge of giving the clones orders and to follow them without question no matter what it was."

"Oh yeah, Fives knew too much, we didn't believe it at the time but now that you mention it, I think you might be right."

"I know I am, I just don't know when..." Kaiya pauses in her words as she notices Hunter walking towards her, Kaiya picking herself up from the ground and standing in front of him, Howzer behind her, listening.

"We were just about to head out, you coming with?"

"I really don't have a choice Sergeant do I?"

"You've got a point, we'll be on the Marauder."

"Alright, I'll be their."

As Hunter walks off Kaiya turns her attention back towards Howzer.

"Look's like it's time to go."

"Well, good luck out their, and be careful."

"We will, I'm sure we can handle whatever we come across. What's our next step after we find what the chancellor needs?"

"Return to Coruscant, he'll be in the hangar waiting for you to arrive."

"Very well then, see you around."

Howzer nods back and walks off Kaiya looking back at him for a second before walking to where the Marauder was, the sound of the engines rattling off in the distance.
