A girl was getting dragged through the lab's long white hallway yelling in protest. Her hair, black as an abyss, whipping around from her thrashing. Her bright blue eyes were filled with rage. The guards struggled against her strength. She swung her red, snake like tail violently getting rid of the guards and killing them both. More guards were called as one of the lab workers saw the action. The sergeant, Abby, shot a tranquilizer at the girl. The needle embedded itself deep into her dark skin injecting the chemicals and rendering her unconscious.
She woke up in a different cell with blank walls broken only by an observation window into the lab. A bright yellow light shining from the ceiling was making her feel weak. The titanium doors were shut tight.
The cell was empty except for another experiment. She had fiery red hair and eyes like molten gold with white pupils and pale skin that had never seen the sun. Her body was covered with bruises, scars and gashes still oozing blood. Thick cuffs were chaining her to the wall and her ankles were similarly chained to the floor. She was on her knees.
-Who are you? She asked the mysterious experiment.
-...
-Hello? Are you okay? she asked again with a more worried tone as she heard the slow yet labored breathing.
-Oltura...The girl said weakly.
-Pardon?
-Oltura is my name... and you whats your name?
-Amari...Its Amari
-Amari....
The girl repeated softly. Amari's name felt like candy on her tongue and like honey in her throat.
-Such an... original name....
-Same for yo-...
Amari was cut off by banging on the observation window.
-Hurry up! Sergeant Abby yelled through the glass. I don't have all day!
-You need to get out...Oltura said in a rush.
-But how? Amari asked concerned.
-Follow my lead Amari...
-Okay?
Oltura gazed at Amari as she focused on the plan she was formulating in her head.
-Hello? Oltura? she asked as she noticed the horrendous scars and bleeding wounds on her face and body as the chains covering most of her body started to shift. Amari saw three pair of wings trying to spread.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of glass breaking and the escape alarm wailing. Looking over her shoulder her she noticed a vivid red light shining through the jagged hole where the observation window used to be. She looked at Oltura who was suddenly standing closer holding her hand out to Amari. She took Oltura's hand as they ran through the hallways of the lab trying to find a way out.
