Chapter 9 • Rumors

Voices inside of a whisper and stares of shock were all toward the two new couples. Sonic and Shadow, nobody ever thought Shadow would get together with someone again, and definitely not a guy. "Rumors" were spread throughout the school once one student saw the 2 holding hands and now that's the main topic now, not like Shadow cared, he loved when people talked about him- not in a wrong way that is. Sonic was nervous about this whole "couple" thing, he was joking when he said that deal yesterday but Shadow seemed to be taking it very seriously because he's been holding his hand everytime he got the chance to. He has also been starting to call Sonic nicknames that he didn't hate but made him very flustered which made him mad at that.

Shadow was going to eat with Sonic's friends today to actually meet them for once and also because he didn't want it to seem like he wanted Sonic all to himself and not even say a single word to his friends so that's what they did.

"Hey, shadz!" Sonic waved while smiling at Shadow and scooted over next to Tails since he saved a spot for him. Shadow noticed the familiar voice and finished his conversations with his friends and walked towards the table where his "boyfriend" was sitting at. Shadow gave a peck on Sonic's lips leaving him blushing madly before sitting next to him. "Hey blue" Shadow chuckled while smiling. "That's Shadow? " Knuckles asked out of pure shock, Sonic rolled his eyes. "Yes, knuckles" "That sure doesn't look like shadow" Knuckles replied before scooting away next to Silver and Blaze. "So Sonic" Tails started catching the attention of a cobalt hedgehog "You said you made a deal with Shadow yesterday, what was it?" Sonic's mind went blank while nervously looking at Tails and back at Shadow.

He saw Shadow smirking and about to open his mouth, before he could Sonic sent one of his death glares that practically said "say something I dare you" which quickly shut Shadow up and just rolled his eyes while sighing. "Um, Tails- well I kinda made a deal that if he-" "If I were to treat him like an 'actual boyfriend' then he would actually date me" Shadow cut off saying blanky. A madly blushing Sonic turned his head slightly glaring daggers at Shadow before burying his face in his hands. "Are you actually serious?" Silver asked shocked "Yes?" Shadow answered growing a spark of anger toward the question but tending to not take it too seriously, "Sonic-" "I know Tails, but can I at least try?" Sonic whispered in the fox's ear earning a nod in response that Sonic smiled too. 

After that was over everyone began to talk to their friends in their own conversations, that was until a group of kids appeared around the table holding their phones out and some squealing. "Uhm?" Sonic asked annoyed by the amount of people around him right now. "Shadow! are you actually dating the new student Sonic?" A white cat with brown eyes asked out of question which caused the two to freeze in place. "How do you- ow!" Sonic's voice was interrupted by the other kicking him under the table, "Why would you think that?" Shadow asked revealing the common frown on his face and crossing his arms. "Because everyone saw you 2 holding hands, duh it's obvious" Sonic sighed while getting up and pushing everyone away "Okay, but that doesn't mean that you come around our table asking us those types of questions," Sonic said blanky "Now go away" Sonic swatted his fingers after he was done and walked back to his table.

"Now that that's done wi- OW" Sonic yelled after feeling someone slap him, "what was that for?" Shadow rolled his eyes "because idiot now everyone knows we're dating and won't stop bombarding us with questions until we answer all of them." "oh-" Sonic shrugged giving his nervous smile while saying "sorry?" Shadow shook his head before getting up and motioning the other to follow him. "bye guys! bye Tails!" Sonic shouted before running off to his lover. "Where are we going shadz?" Sonic asked while holding his hand. "We're going to go out" Shadow took his hand and locked it with his lover and chaos controlled them to a café. Sonic's eyes sparked at the sight and hugged Shadow tightly before tugging him on the arm, "oh thanks shadz!!" sonic said quickly before stopping to give him a kiss on the lip which the other was happy to return. They walked inside seeing a bunch of kids from their school inside and some others.

After ordering their food they picked a booth by the indoor garden window and sat inside. "Hey shadz" Shadow looked up, "hm?" he hummed in response. 

Beep! 

"huh?" Sonic said after picking up his phone that had a logo of him in the middle and the rest of his phone was blue out his pocket and opening it, "hey shadz did you get a notification too?" Shadow nodded holding his phone with a red case and a black star in the middle. Sonic looked at the name. "Chemical high n.e.w.s ?" Sonic looked at it puzzledly and click on it and started to read.

Throughout a couple of sentences, he blushed lightly at the sight of pictures and words on his phone. "They have this..?" "Well," Sonic snapped out of his thoughts when a deep voice spoke leading to Shadow smirking. "Everyone knows about us now, Sonic" Shadow spoke with a 'sad' tone in his voice. "shut it!" Sonic rolled his eyes "now I wonder what's going to happen now".

A land filled with flowers, butterflies dancing in the sun, and birds chirping to the sound of music were all sights for the blue and black hedgehog holding hands and looking at the sky. 

"You know, if you keep this up shadz, I might actually consider dating you right now" Sonic chuckled at his own words. "Guess I'll bring you here everyday" Shadow sat up while looking at sonics eyes. "You sure are beautiful, no wonder I love you" Shadow smiled at the other "Well what can I say? I do look charming" Sonic said proudly while putting his hands on his waist. "Hm, the butterflies are so pretty!" Sonic exclaimed when one landed on his nose. "Yeah, but you will always be the most beautiful person I landed my eyes on" Sonic blushed madly making the butterfly fly off from the sudden heat. "Hey! you made the butterfly go away!" Sonic sighed while frowning. Sonic soon realized "and you need to stop with those pickup lines, there to sweet for me to handle, Shadow laughed while laying next to him. 

" I love you Sonic," Shadow said out of nowhere and grabbed his hand. 

" I-..." Sonic didn't know what to say, did he actually love shadow? was he too nervous to say it out loud? if he said this would that make them a couple?

" I love you too Shadz," Sonic said brushing the negative thoughts away and focusing on the moment right now. 

"But can we go back to school now? I still got work to do" Shadow frowned and winced knowing their time together was over but he did want Sonic to get a good education so he had to do it. "Fine, but if you ever wanna go out then you know you can just text me" Sonic laughed while standing up and playfully punching Shadow's arm. "Ok, Mr. I need no education".

Walking back to the school, students saw the 2 hedgehogs and smiled at the sight while some even took pictures to post on the school blog.
