Chapter 4 - Girls over boys

August 18th 1969,

Me and Tia sat down in the cafeteria she was talking to me about the most annoying kids in our grade to avoid being near,when Robin entered the hall with a smug look on his face. My eyes were drawn to him and watched him walk to his table and sit down with his friends. Finney had beeen motioning for him to sit next to him, he then saw me and shot me a warm smile before Robin then sat down next to him, I returned the smile, and waved at him, to which Robin then shot me a glare, I turned around again my eyes glued to my lunch tray. But I could still feel his eyes burning holes through the back of my head when - "BOO!"

I practically jumped out of my seat and Tia screamed at the top of her lungs. Then Gwen collapsed on the place next to me dying with laughter, banging her fist against the table. "That wasn't funny gwenny you scared the shit out of us". Tia said in an annoyed tone,shoving Gwens arm which made her just laugh even more. It was actually kinda funny, how Gwen was still howling with laughter, so I started giggling, which then caused Tia to start laughing, and soon everyone was giving us wierd looks for being so loud.

Our laughter soon died down, after a teacher ruined it by yelling at us to be more quiet. We were now on the topic of boys. Again.

"I think Billy's real cute, we're probably gonna get married one day." Tia said in an all-knowing tone. Then turning around to look at Billy once more. Quickly turning around again though, a bright red colour, while me and gwen cackled at her reaction. "Tia and Billy sitting in the tree K-I-S-S-I -" Gwen's chanting was cut of by Tia slapping her arm. " Oki-doki guys I gotta go, Amy is waiting for me by the lockers. " I said bye to her and Gwen skipped away happily. I smiled at her and turned back round to Tia.

"What's the deal with you and Robin." She said sipping on her drink. "What? Nothing why?" I said laughing slightly.

"Well. First of all I sensed a lot of tension between you two when he walked in here. Secondly he keeps glaring at you. And thirdly-" I covered her mouth with my hand and shushed her. Just as Robin walked past, shoving into my shoulder, doing so. "You don't know whats coming for you." He whispered, just loud enough for me to hear, and for my ears only quite obviously

"Bastard" I muttered quietly. But he must of heard me because he flipped me off. I rolled my eyes in response. "Excuse me what the actual fuc-" "Lets just go to our lockers" I cut her off in an exasperated tone. While we were walking, I realised that THIS was Christine Alden, that Josh's friends were talking about. So I asked. " Hey Tia," I said. "Yeah whats up?" she said skipping along beside me in the hall. "So you have dirt on everyone, right?" I asked. "Yup, anyone you can think of I know pretty much everything that happens all the time, and yes obviously I do, I even have stuff on your mom." She said with a smirk. I gave her a look and said "So do you have any on me." She paused for a moment. "No," she said quietly. "I - I can't figure you out. And no one seems to know anything. Your quiet. I have stuff on your brother, your mom but not you. No offense or anything but your kinda just-" "Invisible?" I said finishing her sentence. "Yeah" she said sort of guiltly. "Its alright, everyone thinks that. Even I do." I said smiling at her in reasurence.

"Oh thank goodness, I thought you were gonna yell at me, tell me I'm a horrible person then leave." She said sighing in relief. I giggled at her response, and then a question popped into my head "So do you know why Robin hates me then?" I said turning my head towards her raising an eyebrow. "What, he doesn't hate you, where would you ever get an idea like, that" she said slowing towards the end of her sentence, as we approached the lockers there was a very large crowd surrounding my locker, and as me and tia's presence started to become noticed, people turned to look at  us, and pointed at me and laughed. My chest started to tighten.

"Alright, move your asses out the way dipshits, mo- I said MOVE, that doesn't mean just stand there imbociles. Oh shit."Tia yelled. And people scattered. My breathing got heavier.

There on my locker, in big letters, and red marker, was the word 'Fice' , but in blue marker added by someone else because it was different handwriting  was '-d slut'. (A/n for those of you who don't know a 'fice' is someone who is worthless.) The hallway became smaller. And the air around me got tighter.

"El, El? can you hear me" I heard a faded version of Tia's voice that became clearer as I began to focus again, and drew myself back into reality. "Elena you okay?" She asked with concern. Holding me by the shoulders and searching my eyes for an answer. "F-fine, yeah,yeah I'm-I'm good. " I heard a chuckle behind me and made eye-contact with chocolate brown eyes.Again.

Robin was spinning a red marker in his hands, and then saw me staring at his hand, he looked at me darkly, shoved the pen in his back pocket, turned around and left. Tia obviously noticed as well, so I turned back round to her and said, "Does that answer your question?" We heard some more laughing down the corridor, and saw moose and his ugly-ass cronies cackling to themselves, Moose then started waving, and he had something in his hand. And then I realised. A blue marker.

Tia took notice to this as well, and her arm which had been linked with mine started to tense up, and she started to tremble. "Tia, please don't do anything stupid." I said, as I felt she might start a fight. "Don't worry, nothing's going to happen." I sighed in releif. She gave them a nasty glare grabbed my arm and we walked to class, "El," "Whats up" I said in an upbeat tone. "I want you to act as if this never happened." "But-" "No buts, act as if nothing happened, if the teachers find it, act suprised, but not emotionally, thats what they want, they want a rise out of you, they want you to do something, trust me on this one, its best if you listen to me, I know a lot about those two." I just nodded, and walked into math as if nothing happened, just like Tia told me.

I did realise something though, while working through my multiplication, Tia and I ever since I got here, have just kind of clicked. We've known eachother a day, and she is the one person, apart from gwen, who has actually talked to me like a normal person, rather than delicate china, which might break if you talk too much, or speak too loudly.

So I knew, in my 5th period maths class, that she was going to be my bestfriend. And she was, right from August 18th 1969. She showed this by slapping Robin after school, she was suspended for two days, but so was Robin, because he wrote the stuff on my locker. Of which Tia claimed the two day suspension was worth it, because she got to slap him. And if your wondering about moose, well... safe to say he went home with a few stitches . I'm suprised Tia could punch him that hard if I'm honest, or...anyone for that matter.

However Robin only continued to be a little shit.
