September 6th 1976
I sat on a chair infront of Maddy's Vanity desk while she applied my makeup, she said it needed to match my dress so apparently was going to do a dark makeup look. I quickly agreed with that one. Maddy was absent mindly telling me each step, while I just watched, and did what she told me to do, pout my lips, close my eyes. I was kind of out of it at the moment. It seemed like reality was fading in and out. It didn't seem real for me.
"You can face the mirror now, I only have to do the rhinestones." She said reaching into her makeup bag once more. So I turned around in the spinny chair and faced the mirror.
"Woah." I said in shock. Examining Maddy's work. I looked... pretty.
"You like it" Maddy said smiling at my response, applying the rhinestones to my eye lids. They were dark emerald, like my dress. "I -I love it" I said laughing. "Good, because you look like a more glamourous version of your usual gorgeous self." Maddy said, stepping back and admiring her work as she finished with the rhinestones. "I have to say, I have out-done myself this time." She said and I laughed in response.
"C'mon then mija let us get you to your own grand ball." She said stepping towards the door and opening it for me and bowing "Ma' lady". I giggled and went down the stairs.

I stood at the top of the staircase, in my emerald dress, and my hair in its natural curls, styled beautifully into a half up half down ponytail, slicked back with my baby hairs as edges, and two front pieces hung in front of my face with more emerald gems scattering my hair.
"You ready?" I heard from behind me, and turned to see Josh. "Not really, I'm scared, I'll probably fall." I said back gulping. "You're not supposed to see me before I come down, you idiot." I laughed nervously.
"I think they can make an exception." he chuckled and I laughed along with him. "And any ways you need someone to announce your coming down the stairs... so someone can catch you if you fall." I hit his arm and he just laughed in response, walking down the stairs. I heard him shout for everyone, and I heard music start to play, so I took that as my cue, I began to decend the staircase, my dress dragging along behind me, I heard clapping and whooping and shouting and wolf-whistles. So I smiled, and I saw my aunt, Maddy, Gwenny, Ziggy and Donna all sniffling. huddled together hugging eachother.
I smiled and stepped onto the dance floor...
