Saturday 31st October 1976 - Halloween

"Elena." My mother said appearing at the doorway of my room as I was getting my makeup out and ready. "Yes mama?" I replied truning my chair around to face her. "I'm leaving now with Frank, we're coming back tommorow, we're going to a meeting with a potential new partner for his business in a couple of towns over, we'll stay in a hotel overnight then come back." She sighed crossing her arms. She looked me up and down, an expression I had inherited off of her, I did it uncounciously, it made people nervous and apprently people always think I'm giving them dirty looks, I'm not its just my resting face makes me look like a bitch.

"Okay, have fun." I said with a smile, turning back around I plugged in my hair straightner and was waiting for it to heat up, I sectioned of my hair with a claw clip so I could begin the first layer of this process, then I noticed Ma was still looking at me through the mirror. I looked into the mirror staring back at her, until she began to walk over and she stood next to me, I looked up at her. "Where are you going tonight?" She asked as she pushed back a curl so she could see my face better as she leaned against my vanity."A Halloween party with my friends." I responded. "Don't you dare bring anyone home and don't you dare get pregnant." She said giving me a hard stare. "I won't." I said with a laugh. "As if I would be able to get anybody to come home with me." I giggled incrediously. As if.

There was a moment of silence between us.

She sighed "I never had to worry about you." She said suddenly. "You were always so independant, so capable." She stared at me intently. That didn't mean you had to abandon me as a mother, I needed you to be there, everyone needs people to be able to rely on. "You have always had such pretty hair." She complimented, attempting to wrap some around her finger. "Well, I don't think its very pretty." I retorted back, pulling my head away so she couldn't touch my hair anymore, sounding harsher than I meant to, I picked up the straightner and began to work at my hair.  My mother immediatley let go of my hair, her mood turning sour. She got up and walked back over to the door, slamming it shut.

I let out a sigh once she was gone and heard the sound of the car revving up and driving away. She had hated me all my life, no point in attempting to reconicle because of whatever mid - life crisis she was going through currently, because then she would get my hopes up then abandon me all over again. No, it was better this way, if we didn't have a relationship at all, then one that will break almost instantly.

An hour and a half later I was finally done straightening my hair, it was in a blowout style and framed my face well. I was slightly jealous of Donna, Ziggy and Gwen however much I tried not to be, all of their hair was straight and pretty, they didn't have to wake up in the morning and wonder what the fuck they were going to do with their hair because it was so messy. Why couldn't I just have inherited my Dads genes like Josh did, and have straight blonde hair. At least then I would have looked less like my mother, so I didn't have to look back at her reflection everytime I looked in the mirror.

I did my makeup and decided to do a black smokey eye to match the balck swan with some black gems as well that I had borrowed off of Maddy. Gotta love her, to be fair she actually gifted me most of my makeup, the rest I bought myself or got as gifts. Earlier on in the day me and Donna had gone to find wings, we weren't expecting much because it was literally Halloween, but we found some anyhow suprisingly, we both already had these mini little skirts each, black one for me and a white one for her. But we did decide to buy these corset type top things that made us both look snatched, power move honestly. I finished my makeup and checked it, damn I look good. Then strapping on my black heels, I finished the look with one final thing, a tiara. Perfect.

Just as I finished getting ready I heard the doorbell ring. That's going to Donna. I rushed downstairs to open the door and Donna stood their in all her gorgeous glory. She was wearing the exact same outfit as me just in white, and she had white eye makeup and instead of the tiara she had a crown around her head of feathers. I looked her up and down with a smirk, "Girl you look so hot right now." I commented. "Stop your making me blush." She said waving her hand at me as I let her in. "Look at you though, you look sexy in all black." She said. I flicked my hair, "Oh stop." I giggled.
