Chapter 5 - I hate that man

March 19th 1970

We rode alongside eachother on our bikes, mine was a baby blue colour, with a basket on the front, this was my cousins old bike, because like most of my things, it was a hand - me down, and so of course was way to big for me, as my cousin was 17.  However Tia's bike was a hot pink colour, with glitter strings and tashes on the handle bars, with a shiny bell attached, and fit her perfectly, size and personality.

We passed street by street, as the warm spring air rushed by, we rode through the park, and passed the pond full of ducks, and smiled at the old couples sat on benches, Tia ringing her bell, anytime someone was in our way and giggling alongside eachother. It was peaceful, for once anyway. Ma had gone on a work trip to Michigan for 3 weeks, and Frank would be gone for a month or two on a business trip in LA. So Josh, was left in charge of me, so I didn't have a curfew. I told him I'd be going to Tia's house for dinner, and he was fine with it. It was long past the time we had dinner, but me and Tia decided just to bike around town for a bit anyway, for the fun of it.

The sun was just about to set and we agreed to meet the others at the beach. We rode along the beach pathway, and went down the slope and chained our bikes to the rails. We sprinted along the sand towards the figures in the distance, Gwen was the first to spot us and ran towards us and englufed us in a very tight hug, even though we had seen eachother in school that day. Donna came over and hugged me lightly, I did a handshake with finney and, *lightly* may I add punched people's arms and shoulders as a greeting. Donna's mom was there along with Billy's mom, and Bruces. To supervise.

We played in the sand, and built castles, splashing eachother with water, and time passed and  the sun turned the sky blood red and the water to gold.

Everyone was there, Bruce,Vance, Billy, Griffin, Finney, Gwen, Donna, Tia and me. It was perfect, I would say a core memory. Until I was having a splash fight with Bruce and he waved to someone, which I took the opporunity to splash a load of water in his face, making him fall over, ultimatly making me win, all the others were watching, and gwen and vance cheered and the moms laughed, I helped Bruce up and we both got out of the ocean. Ringing out our clothes best we could, and laughing. The water was warm for march, so we were not that cold.

I turned around to meet the same chocolate brown eyes, equally filled with hatred. Robin was here, Bruce who was with me grabbed me by the shoulders and steered me away from Robin, I guess he could sense the hatred between us. He guided me over to where Billy and Gwen were having a heated disscussion over wheather which was better candy or ice-cream. "But ice-cream can only be eaten in the summer,Billy and its good but it hurts my teeth and candy has way more variety."  Gwen said in a matter-of-fact tone. I giggled at her response and ruffled Billy's, now outgrown, sandy hair. "She's right Billy-boy, Ice-cream is for summer, otherwise its not special anymore." I said laughing with Gwen as Billy pulled a face in disagreement but didn't say anything.

Then we heard Donna's mom calling everyone to pose in front of the sea as a big group, I didn't bother putting my T-shirt back on and neither did gwen, so we walked over in our shorts and sport bras, and Vance then unhelpfully said "Guys, we're only taking a picture, not nudes-" I smacked him over the head and Gwen punched him in the arm, which he only chuckled in reply.

The mums were moving us around, and making gwen, griifin, billy, finney and donna sit on the sand as they weere the shortest, while Bruce,Vance,Robin,Tia and Me were stood up with our arms around eachother behind them, somehow I was inbetween Tia and Robin with Robin on the end, of the row, I tried to switch places with Tia but Donna's mum already had the camera ready to take a poloroid, so I reluctently put my arm around his shoulder. "Alright everyone, I'm going to take lots so you can have one each, so big smiles!" Mrs James said, so we all smiled, as we took poloroids in front of the sunset and the sea, on the beach, in warm march weather, I was surrounded by the people who made me happy.Well, mostly speaking anyway, apart from Robin, who on the opposite made my life a misery.
