Friday 2nd October 1976
"COME ON FINNEY STRIKE THERE ASSES OUT!" Gwen shouts. When Finney gets ready to throw the ball he looks up at Donna and flashes her a broad smile. I nudged Donna giving her a smirk "Lover boy wants you to see the action"I say, in response she elbowed me in the ribs."Ow" I complain, giving her a dirty look as she giggled. "STRIKE ONE" The umpire shouts."Come on Finney, You can do this" Bruce says to him from across the feild, clapping his hands. You could see Finn taking in deep breaths before throwing the ball. "Come on Finney!" I hear a familiar voice say a little bit away from us. Robin Stood there clapping and cheering Finney on. "You got this dude!" You could see the way Finney looks at Robin and nods. "STRIKE TWO". Finney looked like he was about to crack from the pressure. There was faint whispering but no more throughout the whole feild and stands. The batter stood there with a massive smirk on his face, couldn't tell you why though, when he was literally ONE strike away from kissing that trophy goodbye. Maybe it was watching Finney panicking. Ugh what a prick.
I wanted to shout something because it felt weird not to, then Donna stood up and started clapping and shouted "COME ON FINN STRIKE HIM OUT!" causing a chain reaction of similar remarks, and a chant of finneys name. Finney looked up at Donna and turned a light shade of pink then throwing the ball. "STRIKE 3" Finney looked like he was about to collapse from relief. "YES FINNEY!" i shouted laughing and applauding with everyone. As we got down from the stands to go and congratulate them I said to Donna "Well that was unexpected." "Why's that?" She replied. "You, Finney, silence and then poof" I said smirking at her. "Shut up" She said going a bright red. "Oh look there they are, go and congratualate them, I'm just gonna go to the bathroom first." I said squeezing her shoulder and heading in the direction of the bathroom. "Say hi to lover boy for me if im not there yet!" I say to Donna, deepening the red on her face, Ziggy punching her shoulder and cackling as I walked away.
I walked into the bathroom and random girl I didn't know was washing her hands she looked up as I walked in smiling at me, I smiled back, as she walked out you could hear the cheering as the door opened and as it shut there was silence. My hands were all dusty from the benches wouldn't be suprised if my ass was too, I'd check that with other people later. As I was trying to scrape the dirt out of my fingernails I heard my name faintly. And then again, and again. I quickly dried my hands and went outside again. I opened the door to find Robin standing a couple of metres away he smiled at me and he walked over to wear I was standing. "Hey" He grinned.
"Hi Robin, what are you doing near the girls bathroom, some people might call that perverted." I said with a raised eyebrow and hand on my hip. "No- what No thats not what-" He stuttered. "I'm messing with you" I said with a smile. "Oh-Oh yeah" He said relieved. "Sooo any particular reason you've cornered me?" I asked chuckling and folding my arms. "OH yeah, right, well I was thinking because you know we're..." He said looking for the right words. "Friendsish now" He said. I giggled. "Yeah what about it?You've changed your mind and want to beat the hell out of me" I said in a joking tone, although I wasn't entirely sure I believed it was a joke or reality yet. "No-No nothing like that. I was thinking we could do some more stuff you know that friends do, like doing stuff together and hanging out and stuff?" He said quietly trailing off in an uncertain voice. "Why not, we're friends after all right?" I said smiling. "Soooo, um, everyone is getting icecream after this to celebrate the win, um, I was wondering if, um, you would want to take a walk along the beach after that?" He said in a tone that almost sounded like he was getting prepared for rejection.
