"You got home late last night," Vic said as I walked out of my room. "Yep, we did," I said, pouring myself a cup of coffee. Vic chuckled, "So I'm guessing it went well."
I sat down next to her and asked, "Is this you indirectly asking me to tell you what happened?"" "I can neither confirm or deny," she said, smirking. I rolled my eyes and said teasingly, "What do you want to know?" "Everything," she said excitedly.
"Well, he picked me up from the store and then took me to Trevi Fountain. Then we went and got gelato and went to see the Collosseum. We took pictures there, and then we kissed, and he brought me home," I said in a nonchalant tone.
"You two kissed?" She asked in disbelief. "No, I believe I said Damiano kissed the Collosseum," I said sarcastically. She pushed me, "Not funny." I raised my eyebrows and smiled, "Then why are you laughing?"
"Shut up, bitch," she said playfully. I laughed and flipped her off. "Do you want to go run errands for the apartment with me," Vic asked getting up. "Sure give me a couple of minutes to change," I said walking into my room.
As I was about to walk out the room I heard a jingle coming from the other direction. I turned and saw an adorable little dog running towards me. "And who is this?" I asked picking the dog up. "That's my dog, Chili," Vic said. "You never told me you had a dog," I said putting the dog down. "I guess I forgot, and anyways he was with a friend the day you moved in so he wouldn't get in the way," she said petting Chili.
I shook my head and went to my room and did my makeup first. I put on light makeup with some eyeliner. Then I put my hair into a half up half down hair do, held with a gold metal clip. I decided on wearing my olive green cargo pants and my black bra top. "Someone looks hot," Vic said. "Thanks," I said grabbing my small black shoulder purse.
As soon as we left my phone began ringing. I saw the caller ID and felt an involuntary smile creep onto my face. "Hello," I said at the same time as Vic said, "I saw that." "Fuck off," I said to her playfully. "I see you are having a lovely morning, Lina," I heard him say with a chuckle.
"Vic's making fun of me," I explained as we walked out the building. "I will have to ask her about that later," he said mischievously. I groaned and said, "Yeah well I'm with Vic all day so I will safe guard her phone." He laughed, "Tell her she needs to come to the studio around noon today." "I will," I told him. "Are you just saying that because I'm with her all day?" I asked him. He laughed, "Your good, but we really do have to sort out something." "Uh huh," I said chuckling.
"Ok, well I have to go get ready, so I will talk to you later, Lina," he said. "Ok, bye Damiano," I said ending the call.
"So how's your boyfriend," She said teasingly. "He's not my boyfriend," I said grudgingly. "Yet," Vic said. I rolled my eyes, "Whatever, Damiano said you have to be at the studio at 12." "Shit I forgot, do you mind coming with so we can go to the store right after?" She asked.
I shook my head, "I don't mind." We continued our walk in a comfortable silence until I asked, "How did you know you wanted to be a professional bassist?" She sighed, "I don't really know if there was a moment, but I loved music and there was really no plan b."
I nodded and then started thinking. "Why do you ask," she said looking over at me. I shrugged, "I've been looking for the thing that I am passionate about. I haven't found it, but then again my old home wasn't really a good place to experiment." "What do you mean?" She asked, interested.
I tried to think of a way to be as cryptic as possible and said, "It's just that it was a small town, and I didn't do much but sleep and work." She nodded sensing I wouldn't say more on the topic.
"What do we need at the store?" I asked, attempting to change the subject. "Milk, eggs, the basics. Though coffee seems to be running out unusually quick," she said giving me a playful shove.
I almost froze in place when she said that. She's noticed that I hadn't been eating, which meant that maybe other people had noticed that. I took a breathe and tried to play it off by saying, "I've never been much of an eater."
After that we walked in a comfortable silence until Vic said, "We are almost there." "I am very curious to see this famous studio," I said excitedly. Vic walked into the building and led us to a room.
We walked into the room and only Thomas and Ethan were there. "Where's Damiano?" Victoria asked looking around. "He's running late," Thomas said chuckling. "Your going to give him hell aren't you," I said chuckling. "Ofcourse," she said smirking.
"Hey Ethan can you show Angelina around the studio while we wait?" She said. "Sure," Ethan said getting up. "Thanks," I said as he lead me away from the couches. "Ok so this is the actual recording studio," he said pointing to the small room with the microphone. "And this is where the producer would sit and produce," he said gesturing to the large panel of tech.
I was very interested in the console and how it worked. "Do you know how to work it?" I asked him. "Yes I do, I am actually a producer myself," he said. "Really do you think you could show me how it works?" I asked intrigued. He nodded and said, "Absolutely, let me give you my number and text me when you would like to come."
As I gave him my phone I felt a hand on my waist. The next thing I know I was spinning. "Woah," I said flustered. "Are you dizzy," a very familiar voice said. "No I think the room just needs to stop spinning," I told him shaking my head. Him and Ethan both laughed.
"Trying to steal Lina?" Damiano asked smiling at Ethan. "Always," he said teasingly. I rolled my eyes at the two of them. "Here's your phone, just text me a good time," he said. Damaino raised his eyebrows, while giving me a questioning look. "I asked Ethan if he can show me the ropes of music producing," I explained.
"Get off your girlfriend and get in here," Thomas yelled. "Yeah Damiano get off me," I said teasingly walking into the other room. Damiano gave me a glare and him and Ethan followed me out.
"So, what did we have to do exactly?" Vic asked. "Well we need to finalize and record. Everything for the album and for Venti'anni," he said running his hands through his hair. "We have Venti'anni almost done all we have to do is shoot the video, and we have Zitti e Bueni basically done along with some if the others," Thomas pointed out.
I listened intently as they continued their planning. I had to admit I loved the studio. There was something calming about it. I also got the feeling that I belonged here. More so in the room where the console was. I was very grateful that Ethan offered to help me. For the first time in the work force I felt promise and passion, and the thought made me think that maybe this was a new start.
But of course the universe couldn't let me enjoy that moment for too long because my phone buzzed bringing me back to reality. I looked up and saw that they were deep into their conversation, so I got my phone out and checked it. The text was from an unknown number. I slowly opened it and felt a horrible jolt in my stomach. The text read: Hello, Coraline.
