"Goddamn you, Damaino David," was the first thing out of my mouth when Damiano had woken me up. "Coraline, it's eleven, and you said you wanted me to wake you up."
"Still doesn't justify why you had to wake me up at this ungodly hour," I said groaning. "My god, how much more can you sleep," he said, dragging his hand down his face.
"About 7 hours and 39 minutes more to be exact," I said, finally rising from the dead. "So it takes you thirty minutes to wake you up, but exactly two minutes to make a smart-ass comment," he says, wrapping his hands around my waist.
"That's right," I said, bopping his nose. He laughed and shook his head, "Go wash up, and I will make you some food and coffee." I smiled and pressed a sweet kiss to his lips.
"Have I told you how much I love you," I asked, nuzzling his chest. "I love you, too," he said, resting his head on top of mine.
I went to go take a shower and grabbed some clothes to change into.
Ever since I had told Damiano about everything, he seemed a lot more protective. Not in the coddling like I'm about to break away, but in the sense that he made sure I was always happy and healthy. I was happy he wasn't treating me like a China doll.
He had been making sure that I had two to three meals a day, even calling Vic and asking her about what we ate. He made sure to talk to me in some way before bed. Most nights, it was in person, though. We rarely spent time apart anymore.
Dam has been there with me through every panic attack and crying session. He helped me work through my anxiety and always reassured me.
After I finished getting ready, I walked into the kitchen to see a cup of coffee on the table with some fruits on a small plate next to it.
"Thank you, my love," I told him, giving him a kiss on the cheek before sitting down next to him. "You look beautiful," he commented. I scrunched my nose and thought back. I blushed and asked, "I am the same person I was when I walked out of the bathroom, right? Messy hair, glasses, that pimple on my upper left check?"
Damiano laughed, "Yep, that's you." I laughed with him as I finished eating the fruit. I took my coffee, and I made my way over to Damiano, who had his arms open for me to sit on his lap.
"So what are we going to do today," He asked. I sighed and checked my phone, "Well, my plans of doing nothing were ruined by the errands I have to run."I have to be at the studio to work on the record," he mumbled into my hair.
"I don't like adult adulting," I whine childishly. "I don't either, but how about I pick up dinner and meet you at your place after," He said.
I sighed and got up. I let Damiano go get ready first while I did the dishes.
I didn't like lying to Damiano, but I would tell him soon. I can't exactly hide the fact that I am going to be going to college to get my degree to be an actual music producer.
"I gotta go see you tonight," he said, pecking me on the lips. I smiled as I watched him leave. I heard a meow behind me and turned to see Lego looking up at me. "I guess it's just us," I said, chuckling.
I finished up the dishes and went to get ready myself. I had kept some stuff at his apartment since I was here half the time. So, I took my curling iron and makeup and got to work doing some natural looking makeup that defined my features.
Then I put on a forest green jumpsuit and paired it with a white blazer and some matching white heals. I then found my black handbag and put some essential things in there.
I said goodbye to the cats and locked up. Yes, Damiano had given me my own key. It was only fair because he had a key to Victoria and I's apartment.
I walked quickly to catch the right metro bus. It wasn't that far, so it didn't take long until I was on the grounds of the University of Rome.
It looked nice. I had toured it once or twice and had heard about only a million times since my childhood best friend wanted to come here.
I felt a pang of sadness as I thought Bianca. She was my everything back at home. Bianca was my night in shining armor before I even knew Damiano. She knew everything and was always there for me, even when I didn't deserve her.
I pushed the sad thoughts away, as I went in for my interview, which, in my opinion, went really well. And I think my opinion was a fact because they had told me that my acceptance letter would be in the mail by the end of the day.
I was giddy as I walked home. In fact, I was so happy that I went and bought a small cake to celebrate.
For once I was proud of my decision. I promised myself this was going to be my token out of my old life.
"Someone's happy," Vic said as I walked into our apartment. "Very," I said, saying hello to Chili.
Vic was trying some different notes on the bass, so I decided to go change. I went with my confidence black sweatpants and flowy white crop top. I also took my contacts out and switched it out for my glasses.
I walked out to see Damiano and Vic whispering about something on the couch.
"Pst, pst, pst," I said, mocking them. They rolled their eyes, and I chuckled. "Lighten up, you two," I said, grabbing a beer and sitting on the floor.
"What's your infatuation with the fucking floor," Dam asked. I shrugged, "It's nice and comfy, and Chili is most likely to be there."
"Why are you so happy?" Damiano asked suspiciously. "Am I depressed all the time or something?" I asked, exasperated. "Not at all, you just seem like you've had a good day," Damiano said, reassuringly. "And, you brought home a cake," Vic added.
Damiano raised his eyebrow at me. "Ok, you caught me," I sighed, dramaticly. "You are looking at a future student at Sapienza University of Rome," I said excitedly.
"That's amazing," Vic said coming to hug me. "Thanks, I start in a couple of weeks," I told her squeezing her tight.
Damaino pulled me into a bone crushing hug, and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "So that was your appointment," he said. "Yep," I said nodding my head.
"Wait, what are you studying?" Vic asked. "Music production," I said. "You can be one of our producers once you graduate," Dam said confidently. "I hope so," I said taking refuge back on the floor.
"Your not the only one who brought food," Damiano said bringing a large pizza from the kitchen.
We all laughed and ate our pizza, cracking jokes every once in awhile. We ate the cake, and when I started to get bored of their business talk I went out on the balcony.
"Your going to be a college student," Dam said coming up from behind me to wrap his arms around me. "Yep, I decided that I want to follow my passions," I told him leaning back into him.
"I'm proud of you," he whispered. I turned to face him, "I'm proud of myself, too." He hummed in response and wrapped his arms tighter around me.
"Look at this picture Vic took earlier," Damiano said pulling out his phone. It was of when Damiano and I were on the floor eating pizza. My legs were draped over his, and I was laughing my ass off, while Damiano was looking at me with a look that could only be described as pure love.
"I love it," I said genuinely. "Can I post it?" Damiano asked. I thought for a second. This would be us showing our love to the world. Sharing our happiness to the world. We would be going quote on quote Instagram official. Was I ready for that?
But the answer was so simple. I was ready for all of that because I had Damiano, and I loved him.
"Of course, just don't tag me just yet," I told him. He nodded and posted it onto his story with the words my love by it.
I smiled when I saw it and pulled him into a passionate kiss.
In all honesty I don't think I comprehended what I just did. I put myself in a vulnerable position in a time of my life that I was already vulnerable.
I pushed all of the negative thoughts away. A problem for later I told myself. But the past always seems to catch up with you. And just because you have confronted your demons, doesn't mean you have won the battle against them, no matter how hard you wish you do.
