I had been up for three hours before my alarm had gone off at seven o'clock. I had been waiting up anxious about my first day of school.
I got up and went to the bathroom, where I was met with dark circles under my eyes. I huffed, and after doing my skin, care proceeded to cover them up. After I finished doing my makeup, I took my hair and brushed it out, leaving it in its natural state.
I decided to wear my skinny jeans, with one of my graphic t-shirts, and my white Nikes. I chose a white tote bag that would fit my computer and all the small things I needed for class.
I tried my best to quietly slip out the door quietly so as not to wake up and still sleep Vic and Chili.
It didn't take me long to get to campus. I made sure to give myself ample time to get myself there to not make my morning more stressful.
"Coraline?" I heard someone ask behind me. I tensed up as I slowly turned around.
When I did, I saw a blonde girl with a shaggy haircut. She had eyes bluer than the sky, and a smile stretched from ear to ear. I felt myself smile as my mind recognized my best friend. "Bianca," I said in surprise, giving her a hug.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, excitement evident I'm her voice. "I just enrolled here," I told her. "I thought I'd never see you again after you left," she said. My smile faltered as I answered, "Yeah, well, my plan didn't really go as expected."
She nodded, "Look, I've got a class soon, but how about if we go get coffee before classes tomorrow?"Sounds amazing," I told her honestly. We exchanged phone numbers, and we both went our separate ways.
Classes weren't too bad today, and I especially liked that they were all around the same time because I could get them all over with.
While I was on my way home, my phone went off, startling me. "Hello, my college student," I heard Damiano say through the phone. "Hello," I said, chuckling. "So, how's your first day going," he asked. "Pretty good, I'm actually heading home now," I told him.
"Is it OK if I come over later?" He asked. "Of course, you can," I told him.
"Ok, I gotta go. I just got to the studio," He said. "Ok, bye, love you," I told him, hanging up.
I decided to pop into the store and get some things for me to make dinner tonight. Deciding to make pizza, I grabbed the essentials and went home.
My heavy lids made it impossible for me to focus, so I made the executive decision to take a quick little nap. I promised myself I would wake up with plenty of time to make the meal.

Turns out I didn't.
I was awoken about six hours later by the flushing of a toilet. I stretched and turned to see Damiano walking out of my bathroom.
"What time is it," I asked him, my voice raspy. He checked the clock and said, "It's five."
I don't think I've ever shot up out of bed as fast as I just did. I did it so fast that I tripped on thin air and very gracefully fell face first onto the floor.
Dam started laughing so hard that even though he was trying to be helpful, he ended up toppling over himself. I groaned, "Not funny."You have to admit it was slightly funny," he said, making his way over to me again.
He helped me up and examined my face. "No broken nose," he asked, chuckling. "I don't think so, but my face hurts like hell," I said, more focused on his hands sliding gingerly across my face.
"I'm sorry," He said, pressing a kiss to my hair. I shrugged. "May I ask why you are so afraid of the time?" He said, running his hands up and down my arm. "Oh shit! I was supposed to make you some homemade pizza and have a nice night, but I didn't sleep last night, so I took a nap and it went on longer than it should have," I told him, ripping myself away from him and walking to the kitchen.
"Why didn't you sleep?" He asked. "Too nervous for school, I guess," I told him, taking out the ingredients.
"Coraline," he groaned. "Before you say anything, I didn't want to wake you up, and I just couldn't sleep, honest," I told him, continuing my assault on my kitchen.
"I get it, but never be afraid to call me, ok," he said, trying to escape my frenzy. I nodded to wound up to focus.
"Stop," Damiano yelled just as I was about to cut open the bag of flour with a knife. I gave him a questioning look, "Please look at where you are cutting before you slice your finger off." I looked down to see that the knife was about 5 cm from my fingers.
"I wouldn't have cut my finger," I insisted, turning my face to look him in the eyes. "Well, for my hearts sake, let me help you," he said, snatching the knife from me.
I stuck my tongue out at him. He rolled his eyes, "Very mature." "I know," I said, putting on a big grin on my face and sliding onto the counter.
"What would you do without me?" He asked, leaning on the counter space between my legs. I hooked my arms around his neck, "I don't know." I said, leaning in and kissing him.
I freed one of my hands and grabbed the flour. I took a handful and dumped it into his hair. I laughed as the realization of what I had done sunk in.
I didn't wear the smug smile for long before Dam returned the favor pouring flour all over my head.
I shrieked as he threw me over his shoulder. "You're going to regret this," I said over my shoulder. "How so?" He asked, laughing.
I was about to answer when I was thrown onto my bed. "Bitch," I said under my breath. "What was that?" He asked, although knowing what I said. "Nothing," I said innocently.
He rolled his eyes, "Your not the best liar." "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not," I said shrugging my shoulders.
"Let's go take a shower," He said helping me up. "Ok," I said agreeing and grabbing some clothes.
After our shower, we ended up ordering pizza instead and watching a movie. By the time Vic came home that night we had both fallen asleep on the couch, peacefully.
But still in my unconscious state I was very aware of how fragile my life here was. I felt the monster closing in. I knew it was letting me run from it, but we both knew that it had me cornered and it would be a matter of time before it dragged me back to my cage.
