yeonjun was all alone.

he was sitting there. quietly. patiently. swinging his legs. taking sharp inhales.

he stared down at the ground like it was gold. nothing but a melancholic expression stained on his face.

he waited. just plainly waited.

it was a regular thing now. every single day. after school. after everyone trailed back to their homes like ants.

he didn't know why.

he really didn't.

he knew he wasn't going to show up. not now.

he hadn't for the whole week.

it was friday. all the hope and wishing had failed. it had gone from yesterday to tomorrow in a blink of an eye; he still hadn't woken up from this shitty dream.

yeonjun glances back up- staring straight ahead. looking at the deserted parking lot. inhaling how he most likely seemed homeless just sitting here on a bench; a student who forgot to be picked up by their mom.

he blinks- resting slouched with nothing in his skull. getting his fingers to tighten around the phone laying in hand. seeming so lonely. only being a blank screen that glared up at him.

yeonjun had debated on calling. he dragged it on all day. a dilemma that scared him.

he wanted to call, he really did. but he couldn't. he couldn't bring himself to do it. he didn't want to bother him. he didn't want to get declined or hung up on.

so he just stared at those lonely numbers instead.

his fingers linger on the screen; trying not to be tempted.

yeonjun sighs. it was hopeless.

it was hopeless to wait for him in the library or get to class earlier. it was hopeless to take the long way in the hallways just in case or stay after school. it was hopeless to ignore all the rumors and whispers going around.

it was fucking hopeless now.

yeonjun didn't have a reason to keep on going; to roll out of bed in the morning.

no. he screwed that all up.

he could cry at the mere thought of it. he could've. but he refuses. forcing himself to blink back the tears threatening to come out. staring straight at what laid in the distance instead.

he stares at the trees. at the sidewalks and the pavement. he looks at the birds chirping in the distance. he observes the cracked roads.

he takes it all in.

the blue sky. the clouds. the cars beeping far away. the three people walking towards him. the slight breeze. the blooming greenery. the-

wait.

yeonjun squints his eyes; inhaling the tiny trio of dots that were approaching closer each second.

he registers their faces. ones he couldn't will to forget.

mixed emotions flood his brain. but relief sinks deeply into his heart.

he was glad that they were here. so fucking glad.

a sly smile shapes up on his face, watching as the youngest opens up his mouth- concern and cautiousness plastered on his expressions.

"heyy.." he says softly. getting yeonjun to notice how they all near him like he was a wild animal; unsure if he was going to attack or not.

yeonjun nods back, "hey."

taehyun pinches his lips tightly together, "how are you doing?"

he observes how they don't hesitate to sit next to him. squishing tightly in the empty space on the bench. keeping him close and warm; letting yeonjun know that he was loved.
