I was dreading going home, let alone having hunters following us there. "Gods working with hunters, who would have thought." Tobais says in the back seat. "We're all going to die." Botan adds, his eyes wide with the overwhelming feeling of dread lingering off of him. "Bo sweetie, I'm going need you to calm down, we're not going to die. They are human and we are gods, we don't die easily and they die at the snap of a finger. We are not the same." I said snapping my finger in the air. Kai chuckled, yet it was what he always used to say to me. "Jesus you two are perfect for each other." Bo says rubbing his face. "What's your dad going to say?" Bo says as if I cared. "He can say whatever he wants, he's not the one providing my needs now is he." I said, botan groans as Tobias let out a bit of air tumbling out laughter. When Bo reached across Natalie to Tobias ready to give him a pounding. Tobias laughing a little harder at his lash out. "Okay, okay enough. Quit being a baby bo." I tell him. "Me a baby? Your literally a baby to me and I'm just supposed to be alright with it?" He says. Kai give him a look. "You literally gave me permission." He chuckled. I look back at botan. "Seriously?" I laughed.
It felt good being back though I had to admit, though having your big brother freak out over a boy was kinda liberating. "And don't act like we don't know about you and Sasha either." Tobais says. While Kai laughed a little. Bo sits back in his seat. "I don't know what your talking about." He says. I look at them all and Kai gives me a nod admiting that sash had been Boning my bestfriend. "Your such a hypocrite." I giggled. Bo scoffs at me. "Yeah well my girl isn't insane." He tells me. "Your right, your sister is." I said, even having Natalie snort. "You guys suck." I smiled telling him how much I already knew. He was definitely going to have to get used to it, cuz when Kai's with me he's extremely touchy. And I can only imagine how he's going to react when he actually sees a side of Kai he had yet to see.
We pull into the driveway of home and I could feel my heart pound in my chest, I didn't know why I was so scared. Just that I was, maybe it was because my dad was my biggest problem in life and now I had to actually face him. It was times like these where I wish my mom was here to step in when things got to out of hand, and I had a feeling I was probably going to lose it for a moment. Kai parks the car as we get out and hunters stayed at the motel down the way, hades and Hermes were going to stop off somewhere having it be just us for the while, which would give me time to get family affairs in order. Though I surely wasn't looking forward to it. I sighed looking up at the big house and dreaded even setting foot inside. Everyone leads out the back of the car and heads inside as Kai and I sat there for a moment his hand gripping my thigh as his thumb began grazing me softly.
"I can hear your heart beat you know, your more worried about going in there than you were going into the headquarters." He tells me. I pressed back into my seat. "My dads an ass, a narcissist at best it doesn't matter what I'll say to him he won't care." I said, my leg starting to bounce as I chewed at my nails. He grabs my hand stopping me. "You need to find another outlet for that." He chuckled. "Trust me whatever it is your dad has to say is the least of your worries. You should be more worried about what I'm going to do to you later." He says. I turn pink in my cheeks, knowing I was probably still in trouble for up and leaving him in the first place. "Your still mad about me leaving huh?" I asked, with lusty eyes. "Furious, now come on. Let's get this over with and we can take our anger out on each other later." He smirked getting out of the car. I couldn't help but giggle a bit, having fallen head over heels for this crazy man.
I get out of the car and he placed his hand on the small of my back as we headed inside. Everything was still in its place as if I never left, though raven liked to keep the house in the same condition her grandfather had left it to her. Like a memory stick in her mind, we go down the long hallway hearing voices from inside the kitchen, going in seeing raven and her eyes light up, rushing to me with open arms as Sasha and Katie smile at me. I give a little wave and raven pulls away. "Your hair, my goodness." She says looking at me with teary eyes. "It looks great." She tells me. I smiled. "Thanks mama, I needed change." I told her she give me a nod, and I look past her.
Glancing up at my dad, he seemed more angry than happy to see me. I wanted to make it clear I wasn't here for him. "Do you relize how worried you had me?" He says. I shrugged. "Not too worried, since your deciding to put on a lecture instead of giving me a hug like a normal father would." I said. He shakes his head. "You know that's not what I mean lydia, anything could have happened when you left." He tell me. I shrugged. "A lot did happen, I broke a collar bone Got a couple of scrapes and bruises, almost got my throat slit by a hunter. I killed quite a few hunters as I was away, vampires and even the erinyes, yet here I am." I told him.
His eyes go wide. "are you serious right now, tell me your joking." He says. I walk to the counter and lean against it. "No, I'm not joking. It was the most free I've felt in years." I told him. Kai comes
Up behind me, placing his hand on the small of my back. Having me glance at him. "You let her?" My dad asked Kai, with a serious tone. He smiled, showing his dimple. "Yeah, she can handle herself. I was only there for the last half of it." He looks at his mom. "She was amazing." He tells them. My dad scoffed. "So putting her in danger is amazing right?" He questioned Kai. It wasn't his choice, he would slay anyone that would try and harm me. So it wasn't a big deal, plus he didn't even need to get Kai involved.I glare at my dad. "Don't involve him in this, I was the one who ran off. That and I sure as shit didn't come back for you." I told him. Kai couldn't help but snicker, walking his way to the fridge. He pulls out a water for him and I, handing me one. "You are my daughter, I will do as I can to keep you alive." He tell me. I laughed. "By injecting me with sedatives when you think I'm losing control? You weren't teaching me anything, you were treating me as a human, which I'm not, I'm a goddess." I told him showing him my eyes. "Don't start with that shit Lydia you know exactly why I do it." He says, raven looked shocked as to what she was hearing. I shrug, shaking my head. "No actually I don't know why you do it, I never lost control, I was trying to take control. That's the difference between your logic and mine." I tell him.
"You called that night control?" He says trying to bring up the night with the boy I had killed. I nod. "Yes, and as sorry as I am for my casualty's I have to live with it not you. Shit happens that I can't control everything that was around me. I could only focus on what was there in the moment as to what I could see." I tell him. He looked as if his lid was going to blow. "You weren't in control Lydia you didn't think about what you were doing." He tries to say something more but I interrupted. "I did what I did to protect YOU you are a human! You are not like me you bleed and die I don't." I said.
"After everything I've done for you?!" My dad exclaimed. I slam my hand to the counter. "What! What have you done, beside lock me up like a goddamn monster! What have you done to help me! Huh?!" I questioned him. "Raven and Kai have done more for me and Botan than you have since mom died! Even when mom was alive, you were barely there!" I exclaimed. My dad had a burning rage in his eyes that matched mine. "I did everything to keep those creatures from taking you! I did everything to make sure you both had a home to live in and food on the table, clothes on your back! I did that!" He says.
I clap my hands. "Father of the year! You did your job, that's what your supposed to do! We didn't ask to be born, but here we are. Children are a responsibility, you never had that responsibility until mom died!" I argued. "Just admit it! Your afraid of me, you don't know one thing about raising a thea! You let mom do it all!" I add. I was getting frustrated, I bowed my head. Taking a deep breath. "Your an ungrateful brat!" He yells at me.
I giggled. "Fuck you, I've never been more grateful in my life. I mean I should be thanking you." I said, with a smile. "But only for bringing me here... cuz now I know who I am." I told him. He scoffed. "Yeah and what's that? A murderer?" He asked.
I knew who I am, I just never had a clear vision. Having kai and hades showing up, it made me realize there is a destiny, fate even. "I descend from Persephone, I'm a goddess. A damn good one at that, by all means she's the bringer of death. Though death never came without a meaning. So murderer? No... I'm me." I smiled. "And I'm done with this conversation." I said, twisting away from the counter.Walking my way outside, past him. Going out the back door I stood there, taking a breath of fresh air. I had never stood up to my dad like that before, now that I was old enough I know he has no control over me anymore. I should have listen to Kai sooner and this could have been a thing of the past already. All I know is I'm here on a mission, and I'm here for my family. As far as I'm concerned, he no longer exist. He's just Matthew...
