The infamous voodoo priestess' words sent chills down our spines. What could she possibly want from us? But I approached Mz. Ruby, begrudgingly.
" I have heard much about you, Sangue. I can feel that Cooper vibe in your veins."
I rolled my eyes, in disintrest.
"Really?", I asked, "That's pretty dedicated for a priestess, whose only friends are the undead."
Sly chimed in.
"Yeah, and you give me the creeps too, lady. Cooking an army of ghosts isn't a neighbourly passtime."
Mz. Ruby chuckled, creepily.
"Oh, Sly; I see your mouth -a movin' but all I hear is blah, blah, blah!" She said, before she grabbed me by the wings.
"Agh! Let go of me, you witch!" I hissed angrilly.
Danger glared in her stare.
"Mmmm, a very fiesty one too, I'm sure Clockwork would make a fine use of you..."
Sly felt a paternal revolt, though knowing little of me.
"Are you out of your mind? She's only a child!"
Mz. Ruby, seeing as how he grew a fondness for me, proposed a challenge:
"If you want the brat so bad, you have to catch me... see you in the next world, Sly Cooper.
Even though I was scared, I didn't show any signs. But on the bright side, I got to witness the battle in the best seat in the house. There came a part, where Mz. Ruby invited Sly to play a "game". If he repeats what she does, he dodges it without getting hit, if not he'll be burned to a crisp; the caveat for my release.
"I believe in you, Sly; you got this!" I shouted, as I struggled between the ropes.I wasn't surprised at all when the master thief came out as the victor. Mz. Ruby clued us in on where the next page of the book might be: in China.
"You better take care of her, racoon she is your blood, I can feel it..." Exhaustion was present in her voice.
With one whack of his cane, Sly managed to untie me from the ropes.
"Oh, I'm in very good hands; thank you very much." I replied, to the priestess.
After all this tussle, we snatched the page that belonged to none other than Slytunkhamen Cooper. His specialty? He is able to turn himself invisible while stealing from greedy pharaos and noblemen. I had a lot of time to practice this move when we escaped Carmelita yet again.
Later that night, I couldn't quench my curiosity regarding the Cooper Cane, and Ruby's words kept me awake at night, to a point where I couldn't sleep. I decided to slip out of where I was sleeping and found the cane, which once again glowed in the shimmering parisian moonlight.
A grasp in the handle sent me gasping, and at once I was presented with alarming imagery: A silhouette of a mouse, creating some kind of machine, a skunk in a green suit screaming, in foul curses, and a child's voice screaming for his father.
"NO! DAD!"
I turned, and I saw Sly as a child screaming in horror with his arms stretched, followed by a man's voice...
"Stay inside, son..."
"We love you, Sly..."
I let go of the cane, making it fall with a clang, before I knew I was panting in horror on my knees. Sly and his two friends, came running to my aid.
"Sangue! You Ok?" Bentley asked.
"What happened?!" Sly added.
I was still horrified, but I managed to speak.
"I...saw something... Sly... your parents... they...?"
A folorn look surfaced in Sly's face, it made me sink my face into his abdomen and sob quietly.
"If Mz. Ruby's right, you're not the only one Clockwork's after..."
Sly and the others pulled me into a comforting hug.
"We're not going to let him hurt you, Sangue, "Sly said, softly, "Not while we're around."
