elaine was working a shift the morning after the outdoor movie, which she didn't attend.

she was at hayward's behind the till when jj, pope, and kie bursted through the door.

"dude! some shit went down last night" pope exclaimed hugging el "i thought they got you"

"what are you talking about 'got me'? who's they?" el laughed, hugging pope back.

"the kooks... you know killed you" jj explained "we hit them they hit us"

"you guys have officially lost your minds" ellie smirked.

"you back with rafe?" jj mumbled.

"i dunno" el shrugged "im going as his date to midsummers"

"of course you are" jj scoffed.

"yeah well... he doesn't think it's 'gross' to date me" el shrugged, quoting jj.

suddenly, hayward entered the shop "hey pope, there's someone here to see you" hayward was followed by police officers.

"evening, officer" pope shuddered.

"i have an arrest warrant for felony destruction of property, hands where i can see em" officer shoupe declared, putting pope's hands behind his back.

"what?!" el exclaimed.

"shoupe! what'd he do?" hayward asked.

"take a look at the arrest warrant" shoupe explained.

"he's seventeen!" el panicked.

"how much did they pay you man?" jj asked.

jj, el, and kie all frantically shouted over each other to shoupe, he took pope outside; right before he could put pope on the cruiser jj yelled "it wasn't him! it was me... he tried to talk me outta it"

"what?" el asked

"i was pissed because 2 kooks had just beat him up and i lost my temper... i can't let you go down for what i did" jj lied.

"jj what are you doing man?" pope's voice was shaky.

"i'm telling the truth for the first time in my life, i took his old man's boat too" jj continued.

"jj what the fuck" el sighed.

"shut up ellie! look he's a good kid shoupe... you know where i'm from" jj shrugged.

shoupe released pope and took jj instead, el and kie began to cry; jj stared at el through the cruiser window as he drove off.
