A/N
Anyway, hopefully y'all are still having fun with this mess.
I'm trying to cut down on chapter length a 'lil bit just so I can get them out faster.
Watching the gods attempt to sort anything out amongst themselves honestly felt like the equivalent to supervising children as they tried to solve a puzzle. Sure, he didn't know just what to do himself, but the gods weren't reaching any conclusions as they threw insults at one another. Alright. I'm starting to see what made Paperjam so frustrated all the time...
"I say we just rush him with everything we've got. What's he going to do? Fight us all at once?" Error questioned, his arms crossed as he scanned the others who all stood around the war table. Cross was the only one who held back, guarding the door yet also listening in. "We'll have it done with in seconds," Error confidently added.
"Actually, he can fight us all at once," Ink argued, leaning onto the table with one hand while gesturing between Nightmare and Error with the other. "He defeated both you and Nightmare without much fuss. If we go in without a coordinated plan, he'll just pick us off one by one," He pointed out, to which Error mockingly repeated his words under his breath. Ink gave him an unamused stare.
"Ink is right, we need a well thought out-" Dream didn't really get a chance to say her piece, Reaper soon speaking over her. She didn't snap at him for it. She waited patiently.
"The goal isn't even to kill Fatal. We need him alive if we're to save Geno," Reaper said, staring Error down. He then nodded towards Paperjam. "We can use that watch, can't we?"
"Why should we take a risk like that?" Nightmare questioned, his tendrils twitching like crazy. One of them nearly smacked Paperjam in the back of the head. They wisely stepped away. "We don't eliminate any threats that way. We'd just be ensuring ourselves the exact same problem down the line when somebody inevitably slits Geno's throat," Nightmare growled. Reaper gave him a glare for that comment, but he didn't care.
Again, Dream tried to speak. "Well, we could first capture Fatal and then figure out-"
"Ugh, Reaper. I totally forgot about your relationship with Geno," Error admitted with a shake of his head, effectively cutting Dream short. She frowned, but again stayed silent about it. "I didn't think any god would stoop lower than Nightmare's weird little obsession," He said, causing Nightmare to bare his needle sharp teeth at him. Error did not care. "At least he had enough sense not to actually marry any mortal."
Cross nervously looked aside for a moment. That's right. No one else knows we're actually married.
"Uhm, guys, I think everyone's love lives are the least of our concerns right now," Paperjam complained, gesturing to the entire table. Dream eagerly nodded along, desperate to get back on track. "Let's not forget about the raving mad creature Error set loose on the multiverse, shall we?" Paperjam then noted, which had Dream wincing a bit. Error would be upset about that comment.
The god of destruction opened his mouth to speak, but Reaper managed to spew out a response faster than him. "Hey, kid... Aren't you a little young to be discussing matters like this?" He asked, almost sounding genuine. He glanced around at the others. "Seriously. How old are they?" He asked.
Both Ink and Error shrugged, neither apparently aware of their own offspring's age. Paperjam looked between their parents, shocked and furious. "Seriously?!" They exclaimed. Dream didn't even have time to lift a finger before Paperjam carried on, ignoring her. "I almost hope Fatal does kill at least you two!" They growled.
"Hey!" Ink complained, tapping the end of his paintbrush to the floor. Cross had heard that sound before. He did that whenever he scolded Paperjam as if it were a que for them to be silent. "Don't talk to us, your parents, like that," Ink told them. "Besides, no one will be dying to Fatal. I won't allow it."
