#19 Verita-punch

The end of year after party for the senior years had everyone wasted on cloud nine, nearly every student by the end of the night was drunk, high or both. From around the room Barty was on the search for Evan to tell him his grand plan.

Between a group of shot drinking slytherins Barty managed to find Evan and Regulus, dragging them over to the less crowded area. The three sat on some chairs together laughing and continuing to drink,

"Alright boys I think I've just perfected the night"

"What?" Evan was trying to hear him properly over the music, Regulus didn't care he just gave a thumbs up like he understood.

"I've perfected the night! Don't drink the punch, I filled it with veritaserum just before our little Gryffindor friends go for karaoke"

Evan started laughing and pulled Barty into a hug, "oh my god this is going to be the best!" he yelled pointing over to the table that James was now standing on.

James and Sirius both had cups in their hands, drinking like their was no tomorrow and dancing with their friends, music started playing for everyone to sing along to and before James knew it he was on the table with Marlene.

Regulus looked up from his chair that was at the end of the Gryffindor table and almost spat out his drink when he saw James singing and dancing, adjusting himself as he realized James was coming closer to him. Dorcas had joined Regulus at this point and was laughing at Marlene as she spun on the table, flinging her hair with no care in the world.

"Did I mention that I'm in love with you" James started, pointing to Marlene

"And did I mention there's nothing I can't do!" Marlene twirled on the table laughing

Mary whisper-yelled to Lily, "he's not singing to you is he?"

Lily laughed, "absolutely not but I think he's boost of sudden confidence is about to reveal who it is"

James continued singing, "and did I happen to say I dream of you everyday!"

The two Gryffindors started shouting, "BUT LET ME SHOUT IT OUT LOUD IF THATS OK HEY HEY"

"I met this guy who rocked my world like it's never been rocked!" James was now facing Regulus, who was sitting there stunned.

Marlene was facing Dorcas, "and now I'm living just for her and I won't ever stop!" she had her hand out, as if gesturing Dorcas to join her on the table.

"I never thought that it could happen to a guy like me! But now look at what you've done, you got me down on my knees" James voiced dropped at the end of the lyric and he was kneeling in front of Regulus.

"Because my love for you is ridiculous!" Marlene had gotten off the table and pulled Dorcas onto the dance floor, still holding their eye contact.

"I never knew that it could be like this!" James moved his hand towards Regulus' face, who slapped it away.

"What is wrong with you Potter?"

"My love is R I D I C U L O U S"

Barty and Evan where backing him up as they laughed behind Regulus, "R I D I C U L O U S!"

"And I would give my kingdom for just one kiss!"

Regulus didn't realize that he hadn't backed away until James kissed him and his entire face went red, thankfully for him the bright lights that were flashing around the room made it difficult to tell just how much Regulus had blushed.

Lily and Mary watched as James pulled Regulus with him to where Marlene and Dorcas were dancing, they started to join them. Soon Barty and Evan gave up and thought they'd join in the fun, followed by Remus and Sirius who were too far gone to realise what James had done.

The party continued well into the early morning but one by one students slowly started to make their way back to the common rooms, embracing the comfort of their beds.

"Want to go outside?!" James didn't realize he was shouting at Regulus, "I'm right here! but yes let's go"

James and Regulus stepped out the doors into the crisp air, both taking in a deep breath as the wind hit their faces. James and Regulus embraced the morning breeze as it started to sober their bodies which were aflame from the continuous dancing inside.

They found a nice spot in the grass to lie down and relax in, James sprawled out on the ground as Regulus sat between his legs. James sat his body up so he was hugging Regulus, taking deep breaths into his collarbone and kissing his neck which sent shivers to Regulus' spine.

Regulus lay his head back into James' chest and they watched the horizon light up as the sun slowly started to show itself from over the quidditch pitch stands. James lay back down and Regulus laid back on him, James still wrapping his arms around Regulus' waist and holding his hands.

"After we sober up, are either of us going to remember this?" James laughed

Regulus sat up realizing all of this was happening while they were very much intoxicated, "is this you talking to me right now or a drunk James who's way too confident?"

"This is me, I feel- I don't know how to describe it but I have a weird hunch it was that punch"

Regulus remembered Barty had said something about punch when he was talking to Evan, and just like they had been called Evan and Barty appeared behind Regulus and James.

"James that was some beautiful singing back there" Evan smiled,

"Why thank you my fellow back up dancer" James propped himself up on his elbows so he could see the people behind him.

"I would just like to say I take full credit for this" Barty smiled and James gave him a confused look

"Credit for what?"

"Never mind James" Regulus moved away and started buttoning his shirt up properly

"Wait where are you going?"

"This is just the alcohol talking, I have to go back to my room"

James frowned and looked at Barty who was staring at Regulus in annoyance, he did not put all that effort into stealing the serum for Regulus to tap out last minute.

"I put veritaserum in the punch" Barty said bluntly

James paused and stared at Regulus, Regulus hadn't had any of the punch but James had had plenty.

"Oh so that's where that came from... wait Reg I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable! If you don't like me back you should've just told me, I would've left you alone" James looked at Regulus frantically as if he had just committed a crime.

"No I don't- I mean yes I do... no as in I didn't feel forced but yes as in I like you"

James' head spun a little, "I'm not good at maths"

Regulus smiled and sat back where he had been sitting, Barty and Evan smiled at each other and walked away, hand in hand, leaving the new love birds to work stuff out.

I know it's a short one sorry, I'm also really tired and wrote this quickly because I knew I'd forget my idea if I left it for tomorrow lol

Anyway it's 11pm and I've worked full time all week so I'm going to go to bed now and put on a cute movie to help me sleep
