The Red Velvet Bar was preparing for closing , and half drank glasses were being collected.
Dove leaned on the counter looking over at group of girls , they were surrounding one of band members who'd just came of stage. She'd been wondering how she didn't know the guy , she knew every one?

For the past three years dove had been up and down the front street of hazzlewood. The town wasn't anything compared to the sunset strip but it made her feel more alive than she'd ever been. Dove found herself in all sorts of situations experiencing things no one at her tiny high school ever had.

"Why don't you go over" a boy not much older than dove said , he stood at the opposite side of the bar looking into his empty glass. She recognised him , he'd been at a couple house parties she'd made her way into in the past.

"I'm not that much of , what do you call it ? A groupie" she said , downing her drink and walking over to him.

"I'm Dove" she said , pushing herself up so she sat on top of the bar looking down at the boy.

"Graham Dunne" he said , clearly a little nervous as he looked up at her. At the ripe old age of seventeen graham was not use to talking to girls , especially ones like Dove. That was more of a thing his brother did. Billy who he couldn't of been further apart from .

"Do I know you" she said , taking a sip from his glass as she took it from his hands so casually he barely noticed and allowed it.
"I think we do" he said pouring himself a new drink as he spoke.

"My older brother is Billy Dunne , You might know him" Graham said motioning his head over to the crowd of girls where a tall older boy stood still holding his guitar.

The name Billy Dunne didn't ring a bell in dove mind.

"When my brother likes something he goes crazy over it, our mom says he's the same with women " Graham said turning back to face dove. This was when he first looked into her deep blue eyes they were like two pools he could get lost in.

"You talk a lot about other people- who are you Graham?" She said , sloping down from the bar to stand her hands still gripping the sides behind her. This particularity made Graham's nervous.

Graham and Dove quickly came to learn they had a lot in common , though at first Graham like most other people assumed dove was just some girl who wanted trouble .They were bother understood being in the shadow of there own family.

"Grey we heading out?" Billy , Graham's older had a much more manly build and aura said as he walked over. As he did he placed down his guitar seemingly out of breath from all the attention he had just received

"Let me just finish my drink" Graham said continuing to face in dove direction before downing what was left in his glass.

"Enjoy the rest of your evening dove" Graham's said walking over to his brothers side carting his own guitar case.

Dove smiled at the young man and winked , as she knew from the way graham had described his brother billy he was not going to enjoy the rest the rest of his evening.

Over the following week as the summer days became more unbearable and the days got longer , the Dunne families garage become doves new sanctuary. She only bothered to go home for a change of clothes or remind her parents she was still alive. Not that they cared much

She enjoyed hearing Graham and his brothers band practise, and the company wasn't to bad.

The brothers house turned out to be only one minute down the street fork the Clarkes , so it was perfect. Doves days of the summer of 1967 were spent in the garage of the Dunne brothers and the nights were spent stoned with Graham in various peoples backyards , houses and pools.

"Graham how do?" Eddie roundtree , who was the bass player in the band Graham and his brother were in said. He stud in the corner of the garage half staring half glaring at the girl who sat happily on the couch reading. Dove had woken up that early July day on her own bathroom floor, in someone else's shirt. She was still wearing the shirt , whoever's it was shouldn't of left it on her.

"She's my best friend" Graham said , hands in his pockets. The thought of him and dove bring anything more than friends felt like incest to him , extremely wrong and disgusting.

"Huh I thought I was-" Eddie said before being cut of by girl.
"I can hear you know"dove said slamming her book shut and chuckling to herself . She then stud up go to the kitchen , for a glass of water.

The house was usually empty due to grhrmas mother being a nurse and constantly at work trying to make ends meet , dove felt extremely comfortable - more comfortable than in her own house. But as she turn around after she finished poring her drink she saw a face she'd never seen before- of course she knew who the man was.

The young man stood at the bottom of the staircase , a little shocked , and taken back to say the least
"I'm dove" she said , before spinning on her bare heal back to the garage.
"Bil-" he began before being interrupted
"I know who you are Billy" she chucked poking her head back round the door. Billy jaw dropped to say the least , he'd never met a girl so pretty and so cool. He had to know her.

As the summer air became sticky , and thighs began sticking to shares the Dunne brothers adopted dove. She would only leave the house to get more clothes , or to meet up with one of the many boys she would talk to over the telephone.
Graham was more of a brother to dove , they would disagree sometimes and piss each other of , but they had each other's best interest at heart.

Billy became doves missing part, at first Billy was embarrassed to be hanging out with his little brother and his best friend. Over time he got to know dove though. They had there own secret language and were able to understand what each-other in way no one else could , they made each other complete.
