CHAPTER THREE
WE SET up the table and create a lot of space for our laptops and sketch pads. Dane plops on the stool, "you're not going to help anymore?" He shakes his head as he scrolls on his phone. All of us have learned to let him be as long as he does his part of the project. Ajani pushed the last stool, me and Grace thanked him.
I look around the library to see if I'll spot Josué's head. Josué and Ajani are attached to the hip so where one goes the other is right there but hopefully he knows that this time is reserved for our group work so he won't be bothering us.
As I'm waiting for my laptop to turn on I look around the library. We're only in the first week of classes after the break so there aren't lots of students. Everyone still needs to get out of the winter break mood. The same could be said for me if it wasn't for Grace I wouldn't be at the library right now. I'm thankful that we have her in our group. She's the one that always takes initiatives.
Our project has run smoothly and a big part of the reason is thanks to the Korean girl.
"How was winter break?" Ajani starts with small talk. Grace looking at her journal and Dane still scrolling on his phone both of them weren't about to reply so I took it upon myself to answer him. We started working with each other during december so none of us are that close with each other and all of us know that but Ajani is the only that tries to set a nice ambiance.
"It was good, we didn't really celebrate christmas but we did eat lots of food." My parents grew up in the SDA church so they don't believe that Jesus was born on that day. During my younger years we didn't do anything on Christmas but getting older I managed to persuade them that we at least got to get together as a family. When I got to university they made it a priority that we'd spend some time together during it and it doesn't matter if I don't get any present I am happy to be in their presence.
I wasn't going to elaborate on it further, "how was yours?" His brows raised up in surprise. He must think that I don't like or care about him due to his best friend but Ajani is a good person from what I can see.
"I spent the break in Nigeria so it was fun and a busy time." He laughs as he utters the words. His body moves while laughing. This is the first time I'm seeing him laugh. In the corner of my eyes I see Grace with a weird look on her face as she sees him laugh for the first time.
"I wish I could go somewhere tropical." Dane comments. My eyes connect to Ajani's dark brown eyes. He stifles his laugh but I don't bother to stifle mine. Grace gives me a sharp look, "we're still at a library." I mutter a sorry.
I opened my documents with notes on it. "The company replied to our e-mail." Our professor gave all the students a list of esteemed companies. We were free to choose the one we wanted. The moment it came online Grace asked all of us to meet at the library to choose one. For our group it didn't take long for all of us to decide one.
