CHAPTER SEVEN
I TOLD MYSELF not to do this alas I can't seem to help myself. Whenever the bell chimes I'm looking at the door to see if it's him, I know that I should stop seeking him out but my willpower for that is weak and I don't want to stop.
Dolci Delizie was quite busy this Saturday morning but it wasn't overwhelming this time since I've gotten used to the rush hour and we are with more personnel today. Billy, our chef was at the back cooking nice smelling food that is making my mouth salivate but I still have a while to go before my break time.
Tommy was helping Billy, I'm just glad that he's here today. My mind keeps replaying the scene that happened on Wednesday. Yesterday when I came to work he reassured me that it wouldn't happen again and I believe the words that came out of his mouth.
I frowned as I realized that I didn't know his name. He knew mine but he hadn't stated his, it never rose up in our conversations but it's not like we could talk for a long time. During those times I'm working and if I want to keep my job then I can't show favoritism.
"Ophelia?" I face Brianna, "could you bring these plates to the back?" I give her a positive reply and she then puts the stack of plates in my hands.
"Be quick."
When Tommy noticed the plates, he walked over to me and grabbed those. He puts the plates in the sink and comes back to me. "Shouldn't you help Billy," He shakes his head. "The old man is taking care of everything."
"This boy doesn't do sh*t." The older man interrupts our conversation. "I taste everything for you." Tommy says with amusement in his voice. "Very helpful." I quip in.
"If Ms Mazzi was here you wouldn't be tasting the food." Tommy rolls his eyes, "lucky for me she isn't." The sizzling of the pan grabs Billy's attention.
"When will she be back?" I ask the blonde man. I hadn't seen the boss at all and everyone told me that she was on vacation. "No one really knows but she deserves to take a break. And from what I've been hearing they want to branch the bakery into a restaurant so maybe she's also working on that."
Would that be a smart idea? Tommy must see the question on my face, "she has the Man-" he stops his sentence. "She has connections so it wouldn't be a bad idea and I'm sure the people would love it."
"Tommy, get back to work." Billy commands.
The boy in question makes no movements. "Ophelia you should probably leave too. You're distracting him and if Mrs Garcia saw you here she'd burst a vessel." He's probably right. She wouldn't like seeing me here at all.
The moment I'm back inside, Brianna stops me and stares at me with her blue eyes. "That took a long time." I apologized to her before helping her with the orders. She's used to working here with the way she's quick with the orders.
