Melody sat watching the clock on her phone. There wasn't much time left until Fatima's meeting was over. Mia text Melody during her lunch period and Melody told her what transpired just a little while ago. Mia responded:
"Let's just please save all the drama until I get out of school. Thanks.

Mia playfully joked through text messages about their mother's reaction to what Angela said and threw in a quick jokes about Devon. For Melody it lightened the mood and she was hoping this was making the time go by faster.
"Come on Mase" Melody says picking him up walking to her father's office. She was hoping her mother was out of her meeting at this point
"Wassup? He getting on your nerves?" Zac ask about Mason looking up from his computer
"No uh, um is mommy done with her meeting yet?" Melody ask
"Naw in like the next fifteen" Zac tells her as he continues to typing. "Everything cool?" He ask
"Yes" she responds
"Yea give it fifteen" he reiterates and Melody nods. She stands in his office for a minute just in silence.
"I'm sorry" Melody blurts out to her father. It was on her heart to apologize sincerely but it was taking so much for her to figure out when was the right time.
"Mel-
"No, uh I'm sorry. Like really sorry well I apologize. I don't know what was wrong with me and I just made a dumb mistake. I should've listened, I should've- I should've done a lot of things differently. Look, daddy I just don't want you to hate me" Melody says "like I know I'm wron-
"I would never hate you Melody. Come on man. You're my daughter, hating you is not an option and even if it was I wouldn't even choose it. I just want you to make smarter decisions that's all. You're smart as hell and the way you've been moving it's like you don't have a brain cell left. Some shit just comes with age and I expect it but this shìt?" He says blowing his breath "Just have to make smarter decisions because I know you know how to right?" He ask
"Yes" she responds
"Exactly."
"But the hate shit? Never that. I love you way too much to hate you Melody. Just expect way more from you." Zac says and Melody just sat in her own thoughts. Zac's words and energy didn't tell Melody that she was off the hook but it comforted her in a way.
It wasn't long before Fatima was out of her meeting. She came directly to Zac's office after because she knew it was time for Mason to eat.
"I'm surprised he's not being fussy." She says grabbing him from Melody and sitting down.
"I forgot the little nigga was in here" Zac says looking over the top of his computer screen.
"Hey boo-boo do you want to eat before we get ready to go" she says as she throws a blanket over her shoulder and lifted her blouse to set Mason up.
"I can't wait to get in the house" Zac says stretching back in his chair
"I talked to Devon earlier" Melody says fixing the socks on Mason's feet
"What for? What is there to say?" Zac ask
"He kept calling me" she says
"Phone games, so he ain't say nothing?" Zac ask as he was clearing his desk.
"I mean he wasn't really say anything but his mom had the most to say" Melody says and Fatima head quickly snaps up from looking down.
"What do you mean?" She ask and Zac looked tired of it already.
