7. Realizations

Klesky grinned victoriously upon seeing their faces; he won. He fucking won, he could kill her right here right now.

But,

Eli is not going to let him.

The blonde didn't fret about the pain and threw a haymaker on his head; he glided down and harshly hit his head on the floor. Right after, he seemed to have stopped moving.

Eli panted heavily and knelt down in one knee while tightly clutching the wound; blood is gushing out of it — indicating that the stab was too deep.

"ELI!" Umi panicked as she went beside her, supporting her by wrapping an arm around her shoulder and the other tightly held on Eli's bloodied hand on her stomach, "Let's get out of here and have you treated right away!"

The blonde couldn't help but chuckle before looking at Umi with a smile, "I'll be fine.. This is nothing."

"Don't say that! You're badly hurt! Come on!" Umi used all of her might to lift Eli up to which the blonde cooperated by returning the effort in pushing herself up.

But, as soon as they are back on their feet, the ground shook and they slightly staggered but they quickly spread their feet apart to maintain their balance. The tension felt like they are slowly sloping and Eli narrowed her eyes upon realization:

"The building collapsed." The blonde said.

"What?!" Umi replied.

Sliding down towards the window, Eli instantly held Umi close to her before they crashed through the window, falling down from the high up along with the top part of the building and with Klesky's body.

Umi's eyes were tightly closed as she clasped her arms around Eli's neck with her face buried in her chest. With the sense of urgency, Eli's mind juggled through various options she could think of — what should she do? They need to land safely before they get crushed down below. Where should they go? Was there really no way out? No.. There's gotta be!

Think, Eli! Think!

"ELI!!! UMI!!!" that familiar voice reached her ears as she snapped her head towards the source. Jesidril was propelling from one debris to another and as she reached a large boulder that was parallel to the both of them, Jesidril pointed her body towards them and launched herself forward, crumbling the boulder in the process.

"I GOT YOU!!" She shouted before she tackled and grabbed the couple away — escaping the worst by landing on another boulder and ricocheting back to one of the windows of the lower part of the building. The impact laid out against the boulder caused it to crumble as well.

Breaking through it, Jesidril took the damage as they bounced and rolled around the floor, hitting Jesidril's back against the wall that halted their advances.

The journalist coughed at the impact before they could hear the thunderous wave of collapses outside. Then, it fell silent.
