Summer reading

Who would want to read something that you didn't want to read in the first place over your summer?

Who came up with the idea of summer reading? Well, whoever they are, I'm gonna get a time machine and kick them repeatedly for thinking it was a good idea.

For those of you who don't have summer reading and don't know what it is, you have to read a whole book against your will over your summer break. I don't know about everyone else, but our books are always really boring and no one winds up liking them.

For example, last year's book was Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Let me tell you, that was worse than I can imagine getting every surface of my body pierced and hanging me by them until they rip off my skin.

Yes, it was that bad. I hated that book with a burning passion. According to my aunt, this year's book, Animal farm by George Orwell, is even worse. I have to write a report on it after I read it too. And when we get back, there's a giant test on it.

Why can't they at least let us pick our own book to read? I mean, if we are going to read, why not make it something that we will enjoy reading instead of making us sit through some guy's story of how society has changed and people burn books and drive down the roads at 200+ miles an hour. And don't let me forget to tell you to have a dictionary on hand if your vocabulary isn't that great and you try to read it. *cough cough Fahrenheit 451 cough*

Sometimes I don't get why the teachers like to torture us. I think this is a form of cruel and unusual punishment. I legit carried that book more than a bible. That's how long it took me to read it because it was so boring and I hated every second of it. I literally fell asleep more times than I can count to that book.

But, once again, you don't have to agree. This is a way for me to express my hatred towards certain things or topics without getting myself into trouble. Anyway, see you in the next rant.
