Across the table, Kenma played on his switch as you and Riku had a whole conversation with your eyes.
This is so fucking awkward!
I know!
He's your project partner, say something!
Why! You said you were gonna lead!
Me?! Bro I was joking, you know I can't speak to random people in person!
But he's not random!
HOLY FUCK BALLS JUST SPEAK!Riku kicked off his chair and leant forward. "So Kenma! Did you know Y/n likes animal crossing too?"
"No. That's cool." The kid didn't even look up from his screen. Riku looked to you and you ushered him to keep going. "So—," but Riku was interrupted.Without looking up from his screen, Kenma said this: "you're that girl Kuroos been texting, right?" The way he spoke was so nonchalant that you thought you'd imagined what he said at first, but you hadn't. Riku looked at you with wide eyes. The fuck were you supposed to do? Deny it? Yeah no, you were a pretty shit liar.
"I...how did you know?" Your voice was in a whisper just in case, you never knew who was listening. Riku leant forward so he could hear.
Kenma shrugged. "It was kind of a guess, but I'm not surprised. But why dont you just tell him?"
"Cause I don't want to.""Why not though?" Riku interrupted. "Like seriously, why?"
Feeling a little cornered, you laughed sheepishly and tried to play it off. "I just don't wanna yet."
"Hm, ok," said Kenma. A few moments passed as you tapped your finger against the wooden table."You're not gonna tell him, are you?"
"Huh? No, I don't really care." In relief, you breathed out and rested your face against the table.
"Hey Kenma!" When you heard that voice, your head shot back up and immediately you looked to Riku. He seemed shocked as well, so you both freaked the fuck out together."Kuroo this is a library you have to be quiet," said Kenma. He rolled his eyes and still did not look up, but he had to when Kuroo took his switch from him. "Give it back."
"I will, calm down." Kuroos gaze flickered from Kenma and onto you, and that's when your heart stopped for a single second."Oh, Y/n. I didn't know you knew Kenma." He was speaking to you as if you were good friends in class, but you weren't.
"I dont," you said. "Well, not until today."
"Oh, right." The air was...awkward. Riku told you so himself. You punched him in his arm.
"Is your phone okay?" Kuroo smiled.
"What?"
"I said is your phone okay?"
"Oh! Uh, yeah, she's good." Kuroo laughed at this and your cheeks flushed. When you looked at Kenma, that flush stopped when you saw the disgusted look on his face like he was judging the both of you. Quickly, you poked your tongue at him when Kuroo wasn't looking. When Kuroo wasn't looking at Kenma, Kenma poked his tongue at you. That cycle repeated for a little while until Kuroo had to leave.
"You're really awkward," said Kenma.
"I'm very aware."
It was true, you weren't very great talking with strangers, but Kuroo wasn't exactly a stranger, so what was your excuse really?
Riku leaned to whisper in your ear. "You have such a big fat crush on him it's hard to watch."
"I will beat you with a book until you're dead, watch it."
"You didn't deny it~." He sung out. You rolled your eyes at him in response. There was no way you liked Kuroo. To be continued...
