"Y/n?" You heard a knock at your door. It was Kuroo. Wiping the tears away from your eyes, you felt a pang of embarrassment for walking out like that and leaving him there.
"Uh, come in," you said. Kuroo opened the door to see you sitting at your desk, eyes puffy. He closed the door quietly and sat down on your bed.
"I just um...I just wanted to see if you were okay," he said, taking his eyes off you to stare at his hands as he fiddled with his fingers.
"Yeah, I'm okay." You gave a stifled laugh. "She does this all the time. Nothing new."
"I can imagine it's still not nice to hear," he said, and he was right. No matter how many times your mother repeated the same thing, it still hurt just as much.
"Hey Kuroo," you said.
He looked back up at you. "Yeah?"
You thought for a moment. "Never mind," you said.Kuroo nodded with a smile.
Gah he's so pretty. And you hated that you thought this."Do you wanna go get some ice cream?" You asked him. "I know a really good parlour that's open late."
Kuroo smiled. "Yeah, sure."***
The walk there felt a little awkward but it was no surprise really. You always felt at least a little nervous around Kuroo.
Then again, he was really calming to be around. It was strange.
As you walked along the cement path with your hands behind your back, Kuroo tried desperately to think of something to say.
"What's your favourite ice cream flavour?" He asked.
You laughed. "Umm. I'm not sure," you said. "I don't think I have one.""Really?"
You nodded. "What's yours then?"
"Mint."When he saw the disgusted look on your face, he put a hand on his chest.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" He said. "I'm hurt.""Mint, really? It's so gross!"
"Uh, nuh uh," he said.
"Yuh uh."
"Nuh uh."
"If I say it's gross, it's gross."
"Yes, ma'am."
The both of you laughed. In your pocket, you could feel your phone going off, no doubt a million texts from Riku apologising for what happened at dinner.
You decided to ignore them from now as you were kind of enjoying being in the moment for once.
"I had fun today," Kuroo said. "Even with all the...chaos I guess," he laughed nervously and rubbed the nape of his neck.
"Me too," you said blushing. "You're not as bad as I thought you were."
"You thought I was bad?"
You shrugged with a cheeky smile.Kuroo laughed. "Wow. I'm offended."
"What? Why? You should feel complimented!"
"Complimented that you thought I was bad?""No," you said. "Complimented because I was proven wrong and you're not actually that bad."
"That bad," he said. You both smiled at each other and then looked away.
"No but really I had fun too," you said.
"I'm glad," he responded. At the perfect moment, you arrived at the parlour. Just in time before you melted into a puddle over how warm you felt inside.
"Let me pay," he said. "I think you deserve something."
"Ok," you said. "You're not gonna use that against me in the future though, are you?"
"No!" He laughed. "God you're weird.""In a good way or bad way?"
"Good, definitely good," he said.
Kuroo was smiling at you with these eyes and you couldn't quite handle it.
"Go on then," you said in a British accent. "Pay up, chap!"Why must I be this way?!
Kuroo laughed and did as you said, getting yourself (flavour) and him mint.
The two of you sat together on a nearby bench that was lit up by a street lamp.
Kuroo's eyes grew wide when he saw you bite into your ice cream.
"What the hell was that?" He asked."What?" You said.
"Did...did you just bite into your ice cream?"
"Yeah, and?""What's wrong with you?!"
"I'm a fast consumer, okay?!"
"That's just not right," he said laughing.
"Your face is just not right."
Kuroo laughed at this.Without being too noticeable, you scooted a little closer to Kuroo. So maybe Riku was right, maybe you had a tiny thing for Kuroo.
To be continued...
and you finally admit it 😍😍
