When Kuroo answered the door, you wanted to sink into the ground. It felt so embarrassing for some reason, but he was so welcoming and kind.
"Come in! Do you want a glass of water?"
Oh my god he's too nice, he's gonna be mugged one day. You felt bad that your mind instantly went that way. In your family, kindness had been known as a weakness so you weren't quite used to it.
"Uh — no thanks, I'm good."His place was really tidy. It was practically sparkling and you knew that Kuroo had definitely helped out with keeping it this way, it just seemed like something he'd do. And then you heard a meow. A fully black cat with beautiful green eyes perched itself on one of the dining room chairs that was right next to the entrance. At once, your eyes lit up and you dashed toward the cat, patting it and talking to it in a baby voice. This continued on for a few more seconds until you realised who you were in front of.
You cleared your throat and stood up awkwardly and tried lowering your voice. "Um...nice cat."
Kuroo smiled. "Her names Juno." Your heart melted but you didn't let it show. On the inside, you were really screaming. Juno was adorable!
"It suits her.""I think so." He smiled. He stared at you for a few seconds longer than he should of and so you cleared your throat again.
"Um-so where are we working?"
He rubbed his neck. "Is the lounge okay?"
"Yeah, sure."He smiled again and then led you into the lounge where you sat on opposite sides of a dark oak coffee table. You couldn't stop looking around. Was Kuroo rich? One thing about you, you usually spoke your mind and then regretted it because you weren't aware that what you said was aloud.
"Are you rich?"
Kuroo laughed. "Uh-guess so. Why? You need money?" You fought off a smile as you pulled out everything you needed from your bag.Every part of you was anxious. It usually felt this way around people you weren't that familiar with, but you were familiar with Kuroo. Only thing was that he didn't even know it was you. You still worried that he was able to tell you and the mystery girl he was messaging with this stupid clue of the day thing were in fact the same person. Yet at he same time, you felt at ease around Kuroo. You still weren't sure if that was a good thing or not.
***
After about an hour or so of awkward social interaction, Kuroo sighed and put his pen down. You looked at him and watched as he kept his eyes closed and rubbed his neck, his head tilting back slightly. Kuroo then opened his eyes, making instant contact with yours. It caught you off guard. It made you flush red and so you took your gaze back down to your work, but you could feel Kuroo still staring at you.
"Do you wanna take a break?" He asked.
"Um, okay."
"Are you hungry? Do you want anything?" He said as he got up.
"No no, I'm good thanks."
Kuroo walked toward the cupboard by the tv and turned back to you. "Wanna play a game then?" Kuroo laughed as your eyes lit up. Finally, something fun.***
Within five minutes, you were in your element. Another ten minutes and Kuroo was crying, holding on to his stomach as he laughed while you yelled and screeched at the screen. Neighbourhoods were concerned.
"DID YOU SEE THAT?! THIS CAME IS HACKED!"
Kuroo wiped his eyes and tried to calm down. "Yeah, I saw," he said."Ugh," you scoffed. "Can we play a different game? What else do you have?"
"Yeah that's fine, uh...wanna play just dance?" When you looked at Kuroo strangely, he giggled.
"My sister loves it, but she gets pissed a lot because I usually win."
"You have a sister?" Kuroo smiled and nodded.
"Do you have any siblings?" He asked.
You rolled your eyes. "I have six."
"You're kidding," he said with his eyes wide.
"Nope. They're like a pack of wild hyenas." Kuroo laughed like a hyena.
"So just dance?" He asked.
"Sure, why not."***
Kuroo bet you every single time. He was so good! It felt strange, you never lost at games. Then again, the games you played didn't usually involve so much movement using your entire body. As you struggled to hit every move and breath correctly as you did so, Kuroo was absolutely devouring.
"Is that why you wanted to play this game?" You puffed. "So you could actually win?"
"I got close on that last round of Mario cart."
"Sure you did." You smiled. Kuroo returned the smile and then the game was over. You sighed, flopped down on the couch as Kuroo cheered for himself."You're really bad at that game."
"Yeah, no shit."
"I can teach you, maybe you could even beat me one day." This interested you. With that many siblings, you'd grown to be a bit cocky. You sat up, and leaned forward, resting your arm against a pillow.
"You'll teach me? Really?"
"Yeah, why not."
You eyed him closely. "You're not gonna use this to get something in return right?"
"What? No!" He laughed.
"I have six siblings, remember?"
"Right."You awkwardly cleared your throat and checked the time.
"Uh, I should probably go."
Kuroo got up from his spot on the ground. "Oh, right." It surprised you how much time had passed without you realising. Another thing you weren't sure of. Was that good or bad?"Thanks for uh, having me over."
"Yeah, no problem." As Kuroo walked you toward the door, you tried to avoid looking at him. In this moment it hit you just how much you'd let Kuroo see of you that day, how much he now knew about you. What you said next you hadn't even planned on."Do you wanna work on the project at mine next time?" I'm going to kill myself.
Kuroo smiled, caught off guard and rubbed his neck before putting his hands on his hips. "Yeah, sure."
"Okay...bye then." And then you swiftly walked out as Kuroo chuckled behind you. He waved when you reached the end of the pavement and you awkwardly waved back.Well that was fucking weird.
