It had been only four days since Lockwood had shown the others the room. They have all been relaxing for a bit while Lockwood healed. Although a call came in earlier this evening. Lockwood answered of course and couldn't deny a job."Be ready by five," Lockwood yelled up the stairs. Grace rolled off Lucy's bed and sat up.
"Do we really have a job?" She asked. Lucy just shrugged.
"Do you think he will take it?" Lucy asked as she pulled on her shoes.
"It's Lockwood. He's going to try and go as well," Grace laughed as she pulled up her hair. The girls finished getting ready and walked downstairs. Lockwood indeed was standing near the door with a bag.
"You aren't going," Grace laughed.
"Of course I am," Lockwood shook his head. "Someone is going to need to keep you three under control."
"That's what Grace is for," Lucy added.
"It's true. You will only be a liability," George added as he appeared from the library.
"That reminds me," Grace turned towards the boy with glasses. "Did you do any research yet or do we need to make a stop?"
"I haven't because someone took a job before consulting," George commented as he gave Lockwood a hard stare. Lockwood ran his hand through his hair looking towards Grace.
"I'm not taking sides," Grace explained. She grabbed her belt and rapier. "George we will stop by the archives to get info, yeah?" George nodded as he too grabbed his gear.
"I'll go grab the bags," Lucy said as she walked past the group and into the kitchen.
"I'm coming," Lockwood argued.
Grace laughed lightly as she slid the rapier into the small loop. She stared at him for a moment. She could tell he really wanted to be there.
"No, you're not," Grace sighed as she stepped closer to him. She gestured to his arm. "You only have one arm and we aren't completely sure what we are walking into. It's just easier if you stay back and maybe," She looked around. "Clean."
"He doesn't even know where the vacuum is," George snickered from behind them. "She is right though Lockwood. You should stay here."
"Got them!" Lucy hollered as she carried two kit bags up the stairs. She looked between Lockwood and Grace's expressions. "Well, we better get going." Grace stepped back allowing Lucy to walk towards the door. George opened it for her.
"Grace," Lockwood didn't know what to say.
He wanted to go. He needed to be there, but he also knew that they were right. He would have just gotten in the way. He also knew that Grace was a skilled agent and she would care for the other two.
