The Promise:Time and Death

Chapter 9

Finally home she went in the kitchen and drank a cup of water wondering what just had happened. Putting her cup down she heard noises coming from her brother's room. Confused and frightened she took her knife out of her pocket and aimed it down and outwards ready to stab whoever was in her apartment. Pushing the door open slowly she saw a figure standing by her brother's desk, creeping up behind the figure getting ready to stab the mysterious figure but they turned around and were surprised at what they saw. When the Mysterious figure turned she was surprised at who she saw. Backing up with tears in her eyes she quickly ran in the kitchen and splashed cold water on her face thinking t she was in a dream."Tris are you ok? Why were you holding a knife?" The person asked. Tris couldn't even hear what he was saying because she couldn't believe who was standing just directly on the other side of the island. " H-how? W-When? Are you real? Or am I just dreaming because if I am I don't want to wake up." She said, astonished with tears coming down her eyes. " Um yes I am real and No you are not dreaming." " Are you ok Tris, do you need to go to the doctor?" He asked worriedly. Now a crying mess she ran to her brother and hugged him knowing how much she missed him. Hugging her back confused, Will asked her if she was ok again and Tris just gave him a mumbled yes trying to enjoy the moment.
Looking off into space a confused Tris couldn't help but to think how her brother is in good health, and talking to her like it was just a regular normal day. "HELLO! Did you hear me?" Will asked looking at his sister confused "Umm no what did you say?" " I asked you what you wanted for dinner" " O ok umm it doesn't matter" " ok I'll go and order some chinese, then we can watch some tv or find a good movie." " Ok that sounds fun" She responded with a smile. Will went to grab his phone and order some food for the two while Tris went to her room. In her room she notices a bouquet of flowers on her desk that she threw away months ago. Throwing them away again she couldn't help but feel that something was weird . After taking a shower to clear her head she dressed in some comfy clothes, grabbed her phone and sat at the island. After calling the Chinese place around the corner from them, Will walked in the kitchen sitting beside her. Tris got on her phone and the first thing that popped up was the time and date. It was no longer August 7, 2023 in fact it was Wednesday May.9th . With the new information she just learned she jumped out of her chair and started to shake and feel dizzy. Her heartbeat began to quicken. She was having a panic attack. Will told her to take deep breaths while bringing her over to the couch then running to get a cup of water for her to drink. 10 minutes later she finally calmed down " sorry " she said apologetically " it's fine Tris, are you ok?" " Yes now I am" Will was going to question her further but then there was a knock on the door " That must be the food, I'll go get the door." Sitting at the kitchen island Tris and Will talked and laughed like old times. While talking Tris couldn't help but think about why she is here back in time. She also remembered that the next day was the 10th, the day everything changed.
