The Promise:Time and Death

Chapter 17

Gasping for air, Tris sat up a little trying to catch her breath. After calming down she thanked Will and they took off running with Tris leading. They were stopped by 6 men but thankfully Will grabbed one of the dead man's guns and shot all 6 men. Now running through the woods trying to get to the car Will fell but quickly got up and started to run. Making it to the car Tris went on the driver's side and Will to the passenger side. Driving back the way she got there Tris drove until she was at the apartment. Entering the apartment Tris and Will didn't speak, they just sat on the couch and went to sleep. They woke up at 3:00 that afternoon and took some long overdue showers. " Are you ok?" Tris asked " yeah" " I'm sorry, Tris I didn't mean to get you wrapped up in all of this mess" I supposed to be protecting you not putting you in danger" Feeling guilty Will placed his head down on the kitchen island. " It's not your fault Willy" " and for your information you've been doing a good job at protecting me through the years." Tris said smiling
Tris couldn't help but think of how easy it was for them to leave, almost as if they could leave. Brushing the thought away she thought about if when she goes back to her present will her brother remember anything or would he even be there. About to find out, she told her brother that she was leaving to get some food. After losing the fight Will just said ok and told her to be careful. Tris drove to the abandoned building. Reaching the building, Tris got out and went in. Walking up the stairs and slowly approaching the door, Tris hoped that it worked. Finally opening the door and walking in with her phone flashlight, going deeper inside the dark room all of a sudden Tris got dizzy and fainted. Waking up outside of the building with a sense of Deja vu, Tris got up and quickly got into her car. Arriving at the apartment she unlocked the door and went in taking a deep breath. " Willy, are you here?" she said pleadingly. With a silent feeling in the apartment Tris sadly walked to the couch and cried in her hands. " I-th-thought I-I d-did -it" she said in between cries. A few minutes later the door opened and shut. Quickly looking up, Tris looked directly at the door. " WILLY!!" she screamed and ran to her brother and hugged him. Letting go she quickly took her phone out of her pocket to look at the date: August 7, 2023 it read . " YESSSS!!! I did it" she said Jumping up and down. " Tris are you ok" Will asked worriedly " I"m more than ok" Tris replied happily " Do you remember what happened July the 18th?" Tris asked and like that Will told her what happened that day " But you still didn't tell me why you followed me in the first place" " you wouldn't believe me if I told you" she said with a smile on her face " try me" And like that Tris told him everything. After she was finished Will was shocked . While Will was trying to wrap his head around everything, Tris on the other hand couldn't help but go back to the questions that she put in the back of her head. Why was it so easy for us to escape? And who was that person on the phone? Was it really over? These kept popping in Tris's head but she moved on and started to talk to her brother. The two siblings ordered pizza, watched movies, talked and laughed until their heart's content.
