Jayde's POV
"No~ no not today please no"I panicked looking through my backpack for my Calculus Notebook but it wasn't there and I need it because today was an open notes test. It was thirty percent of my grade too! So as soon as the lunch bell rung I drove to my house speeding through red lights and when I got home jamming my keys in the door running up the stairs. And seeing that stupid notebook right on my bed I packed it in my notebook. But soon had to stop in my tracks hearing a glass breaking from down stairs."I don't have to deal with this everyday!" I heard my mom yell. She never raised her voice for anything really...
"Then you can go back to Milwaukee then! I don't know why we ever thought we could fix things"And I never heard my dad sounding like that... except for when I was a kid. Then the next morning I would admire my mom put makeup on. So young realizing that she was hiding bruises almost making me scared to walk out my room.
"Because we weren't doing it for ourselves anymore! It was for Jayde"It was happening again. Just like when I was younger. I felt my head starting to throb and my legs get weak and I melted down to the floor leaning against the wall.
"No no no... stop. It's okay" I told my self but it wasn't working all I could hear was screaming I didn't know what to do. I started to open up my windows but my hands were so shaky. I threw my backpack out first then put my left leg out almost tripping on my step shutting my window a little bit. Climbing down carefully and jumping into the grass and making it in my car going through my car trying to put my car keys in but my hands were so shaky. I felt like I was in a horror movie and I was starring in it.
I was a mess. I knew I couldn't drive like this I started looking through containers trying to find my inhaler once I found it I finally felt okay but my stomach burned with anger.
I hadn't had a panic attack since like thirteen.
I was driving so fast I could've crashed at any second. I had made it to my school and didn't know what to do and just put my head down onto my steering wheel. I couldn't believe that happened.
I then heard a tap at my window making my jump out my body almost trembling. Looking to see Logan of course. Somehow he was always there when something was wrong. I rolled down the window he leaned on the window popping his head through.
"Something wrong darling?"He questioned I just nodded no he raised his eyebrow. I knew he could see straight through the bullshit.
"You sure?" I tucked my hair behind my ear looking down
"Yeah... I'm good" He opened my car door and I stepped out walking off as he closed my door. Once he caught up to me he put his arm around my shoulder
"I know something is bothering you but you don't have to talk about it if you don't wanna. Just know I'm here if you do. Okay?" I cracked a smile he was so sweet and could see right through me"Okay" I said as he kissed my cheek
"You know what I think will make you feel better"He said I tried to prepare myself for another one of his elaborate ideas
"What's that" I shrugged
"The bonfire for beating Jefferson"He offered I stayed quiet
"You don't have to if you don't wanna"He said blocking off my thoughts
"I'm trying to think" I mean going home was the last thing I wanted to do. And where else could I go. Plus this was kinda like when the champions of the Super Bowl go to Disneyland. So of course id be there for Logan.
"I'll go." I simply stated"Then I'll pick you up around six somethin-
"Can I stay with you? I mean what's the point of going home" I said as his eyebrow raised
"No nothing is going on Logan. I just rather stay with you" I spoke to him covering what happened. I mean I don't want him to know that his coach makes my moms life miserable and the other way around.
I hope me and Logan never have to be like that ever."Well if that's what you want sweetheart then that's what you'll get"He smiled showing his sharp shiny smile.
"Ill see you later then" I said
"Ill be waiting"
Logan POV
I could tell something was bothering her. But I wasn't gonna stress her out much if she didn't want to talk about it. Which was hard since I always wanted to help her overcome things but the only thing I could do was just be right with her.I brought her down the long path and brought her to where my family kept our horses and chickens along with our pigs. My momma told me when I was younger any animal could cheer up a lady. And that's exactly what happened when Jayde saw the group of seven chicks that had just been born two nights ago. I noticed how one chick really liked her and she liked em too. It would nibble on her fingers and shoe ties and chase her in the gravel.
"You can name em if you want" I offered
"Really" She smiled I haven't seen her braces showing like that in a while. Gosh she's gorgeous
"Ummm you look like a peach to me. I should call you peaches"she said holding the chick close to her face
"I like it. Welcome to the family peach" I said getting up and walking over to the fence to get a colorful tie and writing peaches name on it. Then noting it on her"So this is the way you keep track of them?"She asked my poor baby didn't know nothing about the country life. I mean she came in here with sneakers which reminded me of her gift I brought her about a week ago.
"Yeah...say bye to Peaches"I told her as she frowned"Why~ I wanna show you something. Matter a fact you could just stay here I'll be right back" I said hopping the fence and grabbing my hat. I looked in the back of the seat and saw the box for her closing the door and hearing her scream. I never ran that fast in my life. Not even in a game!
And when I tell you I saw her doing kart wheels with chickens at the bottom of her feet.
"Why were you screaming?" I asked her still upset"We were playing" she shrugged looking guilty
"I most be dealing with a toddler. I thought something happened to you" I said leaning forward onto the wooden fence and taking my hat off hearing the gravel move. Then feeling her light hands on my chin.
"Aww you wanted to save me. It's okay baby not today" she spoke to me then climbed onto the fence almost tripping as I grasped her back with fast reflexes. As she giggled cupping my face and kissing me softly then pulling away.
"Help me get out I don't wanna get a splinter"She said as I could do nothing but laugh she was so city like."Is that my gift?" She asked pointing at a box
"Yeah have at it"I said as she picked it up and began to open the cardboard box seeing a smile show on her face and a giggle or two
"You got me cowboy boots?" She smiled looking up at me
"Yep if you're gonna be my girl you need some boots" I said "Let's try these bad boys on"
I lifted her by her waist onto the fence taking off her shoes and sliding the new ones on. I pinched the toes to make sure they were right.
"You like em?" I asked as she looked memorized
"Of Course they even have little flowers stitched in. Im gonna break them in tonight!"
