#2 - How'd You Manage That?

The drive was filled with singing and laughing for a while until you realized mom wasn't taking the way home. You turned down the song, "Mom? Where are we going?"

She froze and took a deep breath, "Y/n... Your dad and I have arranged for you to stay at your grandparent's house while attending school."

"What!?" You were shocked, "You never even mentioned this to me!"

"I know- I know... we just thought it would be better to be closer to your school."

"So?! What about all my stuff?! It's still at the house! Not to mention the fact that I don't even get a say in this!" You crossed your arms, glaring at your mom, trying not to cry. As the car pulled into the driveway of your grandparent's home.

"Look..." She looked like she might cry, "I don't like it much either, you being so far away... but you should get your education, and not have to worry about traveling how far to get home each day. Your father and I knew you wouldn't agree, so we choose to keep it secret... we had your things moved this afternoon, so it might start feeling more like home..."

She looked towards your hurt face, and you got out of the car and slammed the door. "I'm going for a walk." You turned down the street and walked off quickly.

You found an old park you would visit with your grandparents as a little kid. You sat in the tire swing that hung off an old tree, trying to process what you were told. Moving away from your safe space? Your wonderfully quiet place, in this huge city, where you didn't know anyone...
You did know a person, you pulled out your phone and looked at the new contact in your phone.
"⚡️Sparky Boy⚡️"
You laughed and cringed at the name, "Must have to do with his quirk." You mumbled to yourself. You typed out a quick message.

You spent the better part of the next hour talking to your new friend. You finally said bye to the boy and sighed. This meant heading back to the house.

It was a long walk back as you dragged your feet the whole way. You reached the door and paused for a moment before opening the door quietly. Your mom, dad, and grandparent's sat at the table with food.
"Just in time sweetie, come eat." Your dad smiled with a slight guilt.

You sat down at the table and quietly started eating, the tension was definitely high. Your grandfather didn't like it, "Alright- the elephant in the room is getting tired so let it rest."

Everyone chuckled at his comment and relaxed, soon everyone was chatting and talking. Eventually, it came up, how you did in your exam. You looked down and explained how it went. They all comforted you and said you would find a way to become an amazing hero, UA or not.

You went up to your now room, boxes stacked around it. You sighed and dug out a box with blankets, grabbing a large one, and curling up on the bed. You sighed deeply and sunk into sleep.

You spent the next week getting used to and unpacking all your things into where you were now staying. Mom and dad stayed for a few days to help before needing to get back. You were starting tk get used to living with your grandparents, and talking yo your new bud, Kaminari really helped, and as if on cue. Your phone buzzed in your pocket.

You sat at the small desk in your room, all of your stuff just barely fit in the much smaller than your old space, bedroom.
Your grandma had called up the stairs, "Y/n! You got a letter!"

You felt your blood go cold, here it was. To confirm your failure into UA. You forced yourself to head down each of the stairs, and looked at your excited grandparent's.
"Oh sweetie, you look pale! What's wrong? Are you sick?" Your grandma worried.
"No- no... just nervous." You took the letter and sat at the table staring at it. Finally you slowly teared it open and found a small little, pad? You jumped and dropped it on the table when a hologram came out of it.

All Might was in front of you know, well, in hologram form. "Y/n L/n! UA is glade to present that you have been accepted into the Class 1A hero course! We are excited to see you there!"

You stood mouth agape and your grandma shook your shoulders, "You did it sweetie!"
"H-how... i don't understand...." As if it heard you, short clips of you started to play and All Might explained.
"Though you did not fair well in the combat aspect of the trail, gaining very few points." It flashed to you hitting that last huge bot before falling, "But through your courage you managed to save two students trying to escape a bot injured!" It zoomed out, qnd you could see two small figures below one clearly out cold.

You stood, amazed. You hadn't even noticed them, and here you were, being accepted into UA for it. You were damn sure they had spies, "Although it does appear that you knew nothing of the two below you, your strategy and will to fight burned bright! I cannot wait to see you young Y/n!" He gave is signature smile, and vanished.

"I-I.... I did it! I'm! I'm in the hero course!" You jumped and started to tear up.
"We knew you would kid!" Grandpa patted your back hard. "Nice job, you'll be an amazing hero."

Tears started streaming down your face, you were going to be a hero!
