NO ONE'S POV.

The slap on her face was numbing. The little girl bit her lip to prevent herself from crying.

Her father had wanted a son but he got her instead. All she wanted in her life is the affection that she so desperately wanted from the only parent she has. She never knew her mother. She wouldn't dare to ask her father because the last time she did...

The girl closed her eyes tightly at the thought. She cannot go through something like that again. It will kill her.

"You're such an embarrassment to me, you little worm! What did I tell you about getting close to the Princess?! Use your head, for all the God's sake! The throne could be yours but you're throwing it away and for what? Are you growing soft on Chaeyoung already?!"

She just bit back the retort she wanted to say, not wanting to anger her father any more than she already did.

"I'm so sorry, father. It won't happen again," she said in a low voice.

"It better not or else you won't like the consequences. Now get out of my sight!" her father spat, earning her another slap in the face. She hurriedly went outside the room and the moment she did, tears that she's been restraining fell.

What did I honestly do to be treated this way?

She clutched a hand to herself vowing that she will do all she can to earn her father's love and approval.

No matter what it takes. No matter what she has to do.

"Are you okay, unnie?" I heard Lisa's concerned voice and I shook my head internally to get a hold on myself. It's been a few days since all the revelation and I still couldn't quite keep my head wrapped around it. I sighed and looked at the door.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Just a little tired. You know how all these can be physically demanding and time consuming. What's up? Anything that you need from me?" Lisa shook her head and went inside my office completely.

"Not really. I just want to check how you were. Ever since I made you take that day off, you zoned out a lot. I was wondering if something happened that you wanted to tell me." I smiled at Lisa and stood up.

"I'm okay, I promise. It's just work that has been demanding lately and I can't wait to go to that conference in London and to see Jennie." Lisa smiled at that.

"I know, unnie. It's been a little while since you 2 saw each other in person and I'll be more than happy to take over for a few weeks. You've been drowning yourself in work too, I noticed."

"Thanks, Lisa. I know I can count on you. Don't worry, my line will always be open so if there is anything that you might need from me while I'm away, please don't hesitate to call or text me okay?" Lisa nodded and smiled again.

"I will, unnie. Thank you as well for the trust." I chuckled and hit her arm lightly.

"I know you can do it. We've been together in this for as long as I can remember," I teased.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. Anyhoo, would it be fine if I leave early today? I'll just run some errands before public offices close down." I frowned a little at that.

"Oh sure. You can take an off tomorrow too if you need more time. Please take care, Lis."

"Thank you, unnie. I will let you know if I won't be able to come in tomorrow. You too okay? Please take good care. I'll see you when I get back. Text me," Lisa said as she turned to leave. I nodded and waved her off.
