NO ONE's POV.
The woman frowned at her reflection when she passed by the bathroom mirror. She just finished her morning routine and preparation for a big meeting today.
She comes closer to the mirror, completely removing her towel.
There, just in the length of her spine were faint, weird probably words starting to appear. She swore she has never seen that the day before nor understood what was written on that sort of tattoo that just appeared out of nowhere.
What could this possibly be? But I swear to God, I think I have seen this before. Somewhere.
Then suddenly, there's a sharp pain that shoots on her back that made her kneel in pain and let out a cry of agony. It was just for a moment then in was gone. It was a burning sensation, like something hot was pressed against her back. She was gasping for breath as she staggers to stand up, a hand clutching the sink for support.
What the hell just happened?
With shaking arms, she tried to pull herself to stand up and then she noticed it, from the mirror's reflection; the words are much clear, not just a faint outline. Totally a tattoo. But she couldn't understand what it says. Strange things have been happening lately as well. She felt like she's being watched. There seems to be a lot of familiar faces she see at random times of the day but the moment she tries to take a second look, they all seem to vanish. Now this.
I think I really needed to go home or else I will lose my mind.
She closed her eyes for a moment, taking in a deep breath before taking another look at her back's reflection taking in the words that has just been brandished against the length of her spinal column.
যিসকলে দেৱতাৰ লগত খোজ কাঢ়িছিল তেওঁলোকৰ কেতিয়াও বিনাশ নহ'ব।
(They who walked along with the Gods will never be perished.)
(A/N: Thank you Dr. Google. Lol. I have been a serious fan of linguistics. I find it fascinating how come there are lot of them and some are in danger of being extinct.)
Whatever this meant, I seriously needed some answers but I don't know who to talk to about this. I'm coming home.
Meanwhile, at the other side of the world...
Another woman woke up abruptly upon the sudden burning sensation on both her wrists. She twisted and turned on the bed until she fell, gasping for breath and crying in pain. This has never happened before the entire time she has stayed in this world. Never. She cried in pain again as the pain intensifies, not really know how to soothe them with both her hands felt like they are tied by an invisible force. More to that, she seriously felt like a God tied her fate with another soul she's not sure she'll find. She might be dead even before that happens.
When the pain subsided, she held up her hands to her face and her heart suddenly spurted wildly inside her chest upon seeing the markings. She has only seen it in the books while training and researching but nobody has actually seen it. According to the old writings, these marks hasn't been seen in a thousand years. Now that she does see it with her own eyes, she doesn't know what to do or what to feel.
It is indeed the Ancient Marking of Fate as what the older folks calls it.
But why me? I haven't done anything good in my life to receive something like this. This must be a mistake. This is a mistake.
With that thought, she couldn't stop the tears that suddenly fell down her eyes. It's been too long since she has suppressed this kind of weakness. She must be tough on what she needed to do but right now, all those years of being alone, the loneliness is seeping out on the 4 corners of the bedroom and there's nothing that she could ever do to stop it.
I'm going to fail. I'm going to fail, big time.
Before she could think far ahead, the phone suddenly rang. She scrambled to get up to check who's calling. She frowned internally upon seeing who it is.
"Yeah?"
"I saw. I saw everything but I couldn't tell who they were. There are 3 of you in this world, Your Grace. I'm afraid I have never felt such immense power in all the time I was your guardian. These Myrrhs are even more powerful than you are." I sighed internally. My fate has been sealed with another powerful Myrrh.
But who was it? As far as I know, I'm the only one left even in the kingdom. All the other clans has been annihilated years ago, even before I was born. My father didn't tell me but I was determined to find out who my mother was. He didn't even know that I know. In time I will make him pay for everything. Just not now.
"Your Grace?"
"Try to find everything that you can and let me know. I will deal with whoever they might be."
"Understood. Be careful."
With that, the line went dead. I sighed again, in confusion and frustration.
What the hell am I supposed to do now?
--------------
2 children sat underneath a large oak tree after hours of playing. They have been discreetly seeing each other whenever the older one gets home every end of term.
"But where will you go? That meant I won't be seeing you again?" the older of the 2 asked, tears welling in her eyes. The younger one patted her head gently.
"I need to start studying too so I won't be around much anymore. Of course we might see each other again. When, I really cannot answer that right now."
"You won't forget me right? Wherever you go we'll still be friends?" The younger one chuckled gently and a little sadly. She really didn't want to leave but she have to. There are things that she needed to do now. Alone. She took a deep breath and looked at the other girl fondly. She was the only friend she has. She never judged her despite of everything the latter learned about her. She instead, accepted her and even promised to keep all her secrets. She trust her only friend and it's breaking her heart now the time has come for her to say goodbye. More to that, she'll break a promise to the only person who has been nothing but a good friend. She might just be 7 years old but she already knew the value of keeping promises but she has to break one as to not hurt her only friend once she leave.
I won't forget you but I will make you forget all about me. I don't want to hurt you any more than I already do. But I promise I will never forget you. I hope in time we will meet each other again. Maybe in better circumstances. Goodbye for now my little bear glove.
The younger one smiled one last time before casting the spell that erase the memories. She might regret it in the future but the older one's peace of mind and safety is her priority right this moment. She then made the gesture of wanting one last hug and the older one immediately bounded in her arms without even a single hint of hesitation. It's breaking her heart even more. The moment they embrace, she finally whispered the words that will make her totally and completely alone in both worlds.
I'm so sorry. In time, please forgive me.
"Signa memoriam."
Almost instantly, there was a flash of blinding light, engulfing both of them and the moment it disappeared, she finds herself all alone. When the realization finally hit her, tears fell from her eyes relentlessly. She couldn't stop herself from sobbing that she clutched a hand to her chest in a poor attempt to ease the pain building inside her chest. This will be the last time she'll cry. From now on, she must not show any signs of weakness. She'll let it all out now and never again.
With that thought, she screamed at the top of her lungs upon the hardest loss she has ever have to experience.
