Chapter 11: Mayor Knuckles/Peaceful Silence

(Thiri's POV)

I was sound asleep in my moss bed, when I heard a loud buzzing noise outside, waking me from deep slumber.

(Yawn)

I got out of bed, and looked out the window to see what was making that noise.

Wildcat was outside, trying to cut down my favorite tree in the whole forest!

"HEY!"

He turned to me, chainsaw in hand.

"What do you want?"

"What do I want?! I WANT you to stop cutting down the forest!"

"Sorry lady, but the mayor's office just approved construction of a factory in this area. See?"

He showed me a document with a red stamp.

In retort, I threw my battle axe at Wildcat, missing him and seemingly missing the document.

But soon the document fell to the ground in shreds.

"And I'm not the only construction worker who came here!"

He motioned to many construction workers, who were starting to tear down the forest!

My blood boiled at the mere sight of this mindless destruction.

It was clear what I needed to do.

I soon arrived at the mayor's mansion, standing at the door to the mayor's office.

Instead of knocking, I simply broke the door open with my axe.

And you know who was sitting in the mayor's chair?

Knuckles.

Sonic was inside as well, but he was the least of my concerns right now.

I stormed over to Knuckles, grip tightening on my axe.

My thundering footsteps shook the room like an earthquake.

"What. Did. You. Do."

"Take a pill, Thiri! All I did was approve construction of a factory in Hollow Woods, decimating and polluting the natural environment. No biggie!"

I held Knuckles up by his chest, my axe inches away from his face.

"Fix everything you did, and I promise your end will be swift."

In the corner of my eye, I saw Knuckles grab the mayoral stamp of approval and a pencil with his free hand, writing something down on a blank paper and stamping it.

He shoved the paper in my face, announcing, "It is now illegal to make menacing threats while holding an axe!" 

I threw him to the ground, storming off and leaving Sonic with a look of distress on his face.

"Thiri, wait!"

I stopped at the door, glancing back to them.

"I thought things would be different. That Echidnas could've changed. I was a fool to think that after all this time, his species mended their ways. I now know where I stand."
