"Hey, you okay?" Were the first words I heard when I walked into my classroom. "I'm fine." I said. "I've heard that before." Will said as I sat down. "Shut up." I said. "Wow di Angelo. I'm hurt." Will joked. I just rolled my eyes as I looked at my school work. I tried and tried again to focus, but I just couldn't.

"Will." I whined. "What?" He said, looking up from his phone. "I'm bored." I said. "Now that I haven't heard yet." He said. "There's a lot you haven't heard." I mumbled. "I know. And I'm excited to learn." Will said. I looked him dead in the eye, and tried to think about what was going on in his mind.

Ever since he got here, he had been determined to get me to not be the tight, secretive person I am. But I'm not sure if I like that. So ever since January, I've been trying to keep him from getting in. But he's so persistent. And now? Now I think I like him.

I didn't mean to. I'd liked other boys before. But no boy like Will. Will is just different. There's something about him that sets him aside from others. But the only problem is, I think he doesn't like boys.

I got on the bus and sat down next to Hazel. "Hey." She said. "Hi." I said as I slid my bag off my shoulder. "Yes?" She asked. "How do you know I want something?" I said. "I know things. Like when something's going on." Hazel said. I looked at my feet. "What's up?" She asked. "I like someone. But I can never tell him. He'll never like me back." Hazel reached up and patted my shoulder. "Who?" I turned my head to see if he was listening, but Will was deep in conversation with Leo. "Will." I whispered. Hazel's hand flew to her mouth. "Really?" She yelled. I nodded. "You guys good?" Jason asked over the seat. "Yeah, we're fine." Hazel said quickly.

As I got off the bus, I saw my dad in the window. He must want something. I walked through the door with Hazel and he immediately started bugging us. "Alright, so in work today..." He just kept on rambling about work. Hazel and I looked at each other in exasperation. "Do you need something dad?" I asked after some time. I was already sitting down and starting my homework by then. "Well, as you know, your mother's anniversary is coming up," I shuddered. It had almost been ten years since my mother had been dead. "So I was wondering maybe that night you could invite some friends over to get your mind off of it." I shook my head, grabbed my backpack and stomped upstairs.

"Nico. Nico! NICO!" My dad called after me, but I ignored him. I laid on my bed in darkness and silence for a while. Maybe an hour or two.

After more time of laying on silence, I heard a small knock on my door. "Nico?" I rolled my eyes and sat up. "Come on in." I sighed. My door opened, allowing a bunch of light into my room. I blinked a few times until my eyes adjusted to the light. "Hey." Jason said. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "Hazel said you were upset. I wanted to check up on you."

"Thanks, but I'm fine." I flop back down. "Yeah, no you're not. And you've been so happy recently, what's wrong?" He sat down next to me. "My dad told me to invite friends over this Friday." I said. "Sorry buddy. He was just trying to cheer you up." Jason said. "I know. But if he'd actually pay attention to me, he would know that I've been happier." I told him. "Why are you happier? It's since January you've been a little ball of light." Jason said. "January? That makes it pretty obvious, doesn't it." Jason thought for a moment, and then nodded.
