A/N It's not Wednesday, I know. I got kinda busy lol <3
It had been two weeks since I figured out about Nico's sister. So far, I had gotten absolutely nowhere with Operation Secret. Yes, I gave it a name, I'm dork. No need to remind me.
I invited him over to my house. Probably not the greatest idea, he was most likely gonna try and convince me to paint my room black. But you never know.
The bus pulled to a stop, and Nico and I stood up from our seat. We walked down the aisle, through the doors, and down my driveway.
I stopped at my back door, where we were going to go through. "I'm just gonna warn you, my mom is a little bit crazy." Nico laughed. "It's fine." He mumbled. I led him inside and straight up to my room.
He took a few curious steps, before sitting down on my bed. "Nice space." He said. "You good?" He put his head down after nodding. "So, do you want to do something? We could play a game, watch TV, make something." I mumbled.
The awkwardness in the air was impossible to miss. We had never hung out, at least not just the two of us. Sure we've hung out with our other friends at the same time, but it's different when you're alone.
"Why are you so set on not telling me anything?" I asked, and immediately regretted it. Nico looked up from his feet and at me. "I don't know." He mumbled. I scooted closer to him and said, "There has to be a reason." And it has to be a really good one if I only know less than ten things about him after four and a half months.
Nico shook his head. "Nico. Please. I know you're struggling with sharing stuff, but you can't be so secretive." I said softly. "Will! Stop! If I tell you anything, you're just gonna get pissed off and abandon me!" He yelled. I jumped up off my bed. "No I won't! I want to help! Not leave you." He laughed. "Okay. Cause I'm supposed to believe that after everything that's happened to me. I'm supposed to just completely forget my past!" He said, his voice breaking.
Hazel once told me his mom died when he was a baby. His dad remarried quickly and had Hazel. Until a few years ago, Hazel's mom was around and had gotten really close to Nico, helping him after Bianca was hit. Then she died from a heart attack, and he had nobody but Hazel and his father. But his father was never around.
Nico had it worse then I ever imagined. I tasked myself with making it easier. That's why it was such a shock when he muttered, "I like you." I sort of froze, probably giving him the wrong idea. "I know. You probably think I'm crazy, and I'm a stupid gay kid. Go ahead. Laugh." He said, his voice cracking.
Then it hit me. The only reason I'm so interested in him.
I put my head down. "I like you too." I whispered. The silence was so quiet, I could hear aliens breathing. "So," Nico started, "what do we do now?" I sat back down and looked at him. "So, I think this is the part where we go on a date." I mumbled, hoping I wasn't embarrassing myself. "I don't mind that."
Nico's phone rang, interrupting our conversation. "I'm gonna take this." He mumbled, and stepped out into the hall. I looked at the clock hanging above my bed. We hadn't even been here for an hour and we're basically dating.
"I gotta head home. I'll see you tomorrow?" Nico said, stepping back into my room. I nodded, not bothering to lead him to the door.
