Akaia woke up before her family in the early hours of the morning. The girl had a horrible nightmare's causing her to toss and turn all night long.

She sat up from her mat looking at Tuk who the night before was adamant with sleeping next to her oldest sister. Akaia reached over towards Tuk, gently brushing her braids out of her face.

After a minute or two the teen stood up from her mat leaving the marui. She walked along the bouncy netted bridge until she reached the beach. Akaia watched as the bioluminescent waves lap against the shore.

The sound of chatter and heavy footsteps draws the girl's attention away from the water. Metkayina hunters walk pass the girl barely acknowledging her with nets and spears in hand. She watches with interest as groups of hunters enter the water mounting their creatures before disappearing under the waves.

After a few minutes the beach becomes quiet once again, the only sound that could be heard is the lapping of waves against the sand. Akaia sat down in the sand and began watching at the horizon as the first rays of sunlight begin lighting up the dark sky.

Footsteps behind her make her turn around again. The girls eyes widen before quickly standing to her feet and bowing her head.

"I see you, Ronal." The girl said before looking up at the woman.

The Tsahìk stands before her with an unreadable expression on her face, before bowing back towards the girl.

"How did you get those bruises." The Tsahìk questions suddenly looking at the girls neck. Akaia swallowed thickly as she become conscious of the bruising on her neck. In all honesty she had forgotten about it with how busy these last couple of days were.

"Me and my siblings were attacked by sky people. One of them tried to kill me." The girl explained with a with a frown looking towards her feet to escape the harsh stare of the Tsahìk suddenly feeling vulnerable.

Ronal's eyes drifted towards the girls bruising once again. The woman hesitated before reaching out and gently grabbing Akaia's chin lifting it up to observe the bruises.

Akaia was shocked as she watched the Tsahìk gently run her fingers across the tender skin.

Their eyes connect as the woman steps away.

"Come, i'll give you ointment for your bruising." Ronal said before turning away from the girl and walking towards her marui.

The girl blinked in shock as she walked after the woman. Why was she helping her?

She entered the marui and stood in the doorway awkwardly. As Ronal headed over towards her desk.

"Sit." The woman said pointing towards the mat in the corner if the room. Akaia obeyed sitting down where she was told.

Akaia looks at Ronal's back as she rummages through her equipment.

"What is your name?" The Tsahìk asks. Akaia swallows before replying.

"Akaia." The pregnant woman hums as she grabs out a bowl and begins adding ingredients into it.

The Teenager inwardly sighs before speaking once again. "Look, im sorry about yesterday, I shouldn't of allowed myself to act out that way." The girl said apologising for her behaviour.

The words stopped the Tsahìk in her movements. Looking towards the girl with a unreadable look once again. Ronal nods at Akaia before walking towards her with a bowl of green paste in hand.

"You were trying to protect your family, I respect that." She said before kneeling in front of Akaia. The girl sighed in relief before positioning her head towards the ceiling, giving the woman easy access towards her bruised neck.

"The paste will go on green but will dry clear, make sure you don't get it wet until the paste is fully clear." Akaia nods slightly trying not to disrupt the woman as she rubs the paste into her skin.

When the woman is done she hands Akaia the bowl.

"Here, this is for you. I expect you to apply it for the next few days." Akaia nods at the woman once again.

"Thank you for this but I have to ask, why are you doing this? Why are you helping me?" Akaia said looking into the Tsahiks eyes.

Ronal sighs before speaking.

"It is my job as Tsahik to look after my people. You are one of us now, whether I like it or not." The woman said pausing for a few seconds before reaching her hand towards Akaia, resting it above her heart.

"You have a strong heart. A strong soul, you shouldn't have to be tarnished with the marks a sky person has inflicted on you."

Akaia smiled at Ronal who returned a small smile back before standing and walking back towards her desk.

"Go, your family will wake up wondering where you are." She said as she packed up her equipment.

Akaia stood grasping the bowl of ointment tightly in her hands preparing herself to leave as a figure walks into the tent blocking the exit.

"Mother, have you see father? I cant find him."  Both Akaia and Ronal looked towards the door way.

Akaia nearly dropped the bowl as she looks at who was standing before her. Mak'koro stood still, meeting her eyes with a shocked expression on his face.

The Tsahìk watched the two teen observe each other before standing next to Akaia looking towards her son.

"Your father decided he would join the hunt today my son." She replied noticing how her son continued to stare at the girl beside her.

Akaia reluctantly tore her gaze away from the boy as she looked back towards Ronal "Thank you again for the ointment I will return the empty bowl when I'm finished." Akaia said with a smile before looking towards Mak'korro as she walked passed him, her smile still lingering.

His gaze lingered on her figure as she walked into the distance and away from sight.
