Mak'korro's eyes locked onto the demon ship, his grip tightening on his spear as Jake Sully swam toward it. From his position in the water, Mak'korro squinted, scanning the blurry figures tied to the railing. His heart clenched as he recognized them—Tuk, Tsireya, Lo'ak, and... Akaia.

Kar'tuk thrashed beneath him, sensing his rider's rising anger. Mak'korro growled, low and dangerous, his body tensed and ready.

"I can't wait anymore," he muttered, turning to his parents. "They have my sister. They have Akaia. I won't sit by."

Tonowari tried to speak, but before he could, a massive splash echoed across the ocean.

Mak'korro's eyes shot back to the ship—Payakan had launched himself onto the deck, chaos erupting in his wake.

Now was the moment.

With a war cry, Mak'korro raised his spear high before diving forward, leading the charge. Warriors followed behind, answering his call. Gunfire erupted from the human boats and aircraft, but Mak'korro was already gone, weaving through the water like a shadow.

He launched himself from the sea, spear in hand, and impaled a soldier on one of the patrol boats. Without hesitation, he dove back underwater, reclaiming another weapon from Kar'tuk's saddle. Again and again, he repeated the process, bringing down as many boats as he could while bullets whizzed above and ships crashed around them.

Then, the main vessel shifted—its engines groaning as it collided with a cluster of rocks. The entire ship lifted from the sea before slamming back down with thunderous force. Mak'korro winced at the crash but didn't slow. He dove, swimming fast and hard for the ship.

Reaching the massive vessel, he spotted two familiar figures near the hull—Tsireya and Tuk, clinging to debris in the water.

"Mak'korro!" Tuk cried out, relief flooding her voice. He rushed to them.

"Are you both alright? Where are the others?" he asked urgently.

"They're still on board," Tsireya said, her voice tight with worry. "They haven't come out yet."

Mak'korro cursed under his breath. "Take Tuk. Get out of here—get her to safety."

Tsireya nodded tearfully. "Be careful, brother."

"I will," he promised, pressing a hand to her shoulder before climbing aboard the ship, heart pounding with fear for his mate.

Inside the vessel, alarms screamed and smoke clouded the halls. Lo'ak, Neteyam, and Akaia moved quickly through the steel corridors, sticking to the shadows. Akaia raised a hand, signaling for the others to stop as a group of humans sprinted past, unaware of their presence.

They scaled the upper machinery to gain a vantage point. Below them, Spider was being escorted down the hall by armed guards.

A single glance between the Sully siblings was all it took.

Neteyam pounced first, landing on one soldier and knocking another into a wall. Lo'ak followed, using the butt of his stolen rifle to disable another. Akaia leapt next, flinging a guard overboard before driving her fist into the chest of another.

Spider acted fast, ripping a breathing mask off one of the stunned soldiers.

But then, out of the corner of her eye, Akaia saw it—the glint of a barrel, the shaking hand of a soldier aiming directly at her. Time slowed. Her breath caught. She knew she wouldn't move fast enough.

Gunfire rang out.

She flinched, expecting pain, but instead, the man collapsed in front of her. Blood pooled beneath him. Her wide eyes turned to Lo'ak, who stood with his gun raised, chest heaving.

"You okay?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

Akaia nodded shakily. "Thank you."

He gave her a nod, eyes hard but protective.

"Let's go," Neteyam ordered.

Akaia quickly stepped forward, prying the rifle from the fallen soldier's grasp before sprinting after her brothers and Spider, her mind racing with fear, gratitude—and rage.

She prayed Mak'korro would find them in time.
