CHAPTER THREE
The Droid Who Saved Us All

Tavia followed Scar to where Padmé was on the ship.

"An extremely well-put-together little droid, Your Highness." Captain Panaka told the queen. "Without a doubt, it saved the ship, as well as our lives."

"It is to be commended. What is its number?" She asked.

"R2-D2, Your Highness." Captain Panaka answered.

"Thank you, R2-D2." The queen thanked, getting a response of chirping from the droid.

"Padmé. Clean this droid up as best you can. It deserves our gratitude." The droid beeped happily to the decoy Queen. "Continue, Captain."

Captain Panaka looked to the Jedi for assistance.

"Your Highness, with your permission, we're heading for a remote planet called Tatooine. It's in a system far beyond the reach of the Trade Federation." Qui-Gonn informed.

"I do not agree with the Jedi on this." Captain Panaka voiced his opinion.

"You must trust my judgement, Your Highness." Qui-Gonn continued.

The Decoy looked at Padmé, then quickly at Tavia for reassurance. Tavia noticed the agreement in Padmé's eyes, so she subtly nodded in agreement with the Jedi. Scar walked away with Padmé to help fix the droid up, leaving Tavia in a room with people she didn't know if she could trust.

Not long after, Tavia felt the ship land on sand. She had made up her mind to stay on the ship, much to Scar's dismay.

She watched as Qui-Gonn walked in. "The hyperdrive generator's gone, Master. We'll need a new one."

"That'll complicate things. Be wary. I sense a disturbance in the force." Qui-Gonn warned.

"I feel it also, Master."

"Don't let them send any transmissions." Qui-Gonn instructed.

"If you feel the need to murder anyone, feel free to murder Obi-Wan." Scar told Tavia.

"Excuse me?" Obi-Wan questioned, both he and Tavia followed Scar outside.

"Tell me why again that you feel the need to leave this ship and not stay where it is more safe?" Obi-Wan asked with furrowed brows.

"Well to be truly honest, it's because it's away from you." Scar responded, causing Tavia to have to hold in a grin.

"Did you ever think for a second that I am not really that bad?" He wondered.

"You ask a lot of questions, Kenobi. Fine, I also want to get out of the ship." Scar answered. There was visible confusion written all over Obi-Wan's face.

"But, you're a pilot—" He started, getting cut off.

"Yes, I'm a pilot. But if I'm not flying the ship, it's pointless to me." Scar reasoned, running off to catch up with the others.

"How you stand her, I will never understand." Obi-Wan said to Tavia, both walking back inside the ship.

Tavia shrugged. "She's not dreadful. Besides, she has a sense of humour, which you do not have." Tavia sassed.

Obi-Wan shook his head in disbelief.

Tavia wasn't quite sure when it had turned into night, but Obi-Wan had informed her that Qui-Gonn had contacted and said something about an unbelievable midi-chlorian count.

The next day, Tavia waited for them to come back with the parts for the ship. Scar came in, sighing. But there was something different about her aura, not that Tavia had known her long, but something was different.

"What?" Scar questioned.

"Nothing. You seem... happier." Tavia muttered.

"I do not." Scar replied, scoffing.

The ramp had been lowered previously, and all Tavia could hear were footsteps and two people running onto the ship, yelling.

"Take off. Over there. Fly low." Scar instructed, taking over what Obi-Wan was going to order.

The group went over to Qui-Gonn. "Are you alright?" The youngest boy asked.

Tavia furrowed her brows, thinking how anyone would think that someone on the floor, panting after a lightsaber fight was alright, but she dismissed it.

"I think so." Qui-Gonn answered.

"What was it?" Obi-Wan asked, crouching down.

"I'm not sure, but it was well-trained in the Jedi arts. My guess is it was after the queen." Qui-Gonn said.

"What are we gonna do about it?" The boy asked.

Scar and the other boy, who looked about their age, just stood there, not knowing what to do.

Qui-Gonn sighed, "we shall be patient." Qui-Gonn looked at Tavia and Obi-wan. "Anakin, Lennox Skywalker, meet Obi-Wan Kenobi and Tavia Fairelon."

"Hi." Anakin said, shaking both their hands. "You're Jedis too? Pleased to meet you." Anakin said. Tavia didn't even think about correcting the boy on her being a Jedi or not.
