Klitz's POV:

It was the weekend after y/n's possible date and I wasn't sure how to feel. On one hand it's depressing that I have to be around her constantly and act like I'm not hopelessly pining after her but on the other hand I'm glad I can stop driving myself insane by looking for little signs she might be interested.

I was sitting behind the counter playing subway surf when y/n came in through the back.

'Heyyy.' She said while plopping herself down in the chair next to me.

'It's too early in the morning for you to be this happy.'

'Yeah I don't know why I'm in such a good mood today.' She said while flipping through my book that I always keep on the counter.

'So it went well with your friend then?' I said, trying to keep the saltiness out of my tone.

'No actually.'

'Oh?'

'He took us out for food and spoke about himself the whole time then ordered me a salad. Then I told him I wanted pasta and he told me I 'need to keep that perfect figure.' She scoffed. 'So I waited until he went to the bathroom and took his burger and left.'

'You what?!' I laughed.

'Yeah I just took it and left. What else was I meant to do? I wasn't gonna sit there and listen to him talk about football while he's eating a giant burger and I had a tiny fucking garden salad.'

'He sounds like an asshole. Anyway, your bag is in the stock room.'

'Oh yeah thanks for that again. I meant it when I said I was gonna buy you loads of slushies for that.' She said while getting up and going to the stockroom. 'We should open up.'

I would be lying to myself if I said that hearing her possible date went badly didn't make me happy.

Y/n's POV:

I felt happy about the fact my date went so horribly. I obviously felt like it was a giant waste of time and the guy was a prick but I didn't even try on the date. I don't know why I was so happy about it because I did want to distract myself from Klitz. But another part of me didn't want to. I just kept telling myself that he pulled away for a reason and that even if he didn't, it would be a bad idea anyway.

I busied myself by doing stock and I finished before Klitz so I just sat at the counter on my phone. After a while I heard the bell above the door ring.

'Oh hey Eli.'

'Hey, where's Klitz?'

'He's in the back filling out papers on my job performance since I got fired.' I shrugged.

'You...You what?' He said, his smile dropping off his face.

'Yeah I got fired for giving you my employee discount, I've been given my week's notice.'

'Oh my god, I can- I can give the hat back. I'm so s-'

I cut him off by bursting out into a fit of laughter.

'Why are you-'

'Oh hey Eli.' Klitz said while coming out of the stock room. Eli just stared back at him with wide eyes before looking back to me with a face of confusion.

'What are you laughing at?' Klitz said while chuckling at my laugh.

'Eli being so gullible.' I said while wiping the tears from the corners of my eyes.

'You were lying?! You dick I felt really guilty then.' He shouted.

'Sorry, you're just so easy.' I said, my laughter dying down.
