We exit the gym celebrating our victory. "You are so lucky" Mage said, a bit annoyed. "Nah I don't know what you're talking about, that was all skill in that fight" I said jokingly. "Actually it was all lu-" "Aria it's a joke of course I know it was all luck" I said, cutting off Aria. "We got the first gym badge, what now? Alex said, confused. "We go to the next city and get the next gym badge, simple. Did you not pay attention at all to what Brock had to say?" Chalk said in disappointment. Alex laughed nervously. "You were still looking at his abs weren't you?" Mage said. "I may have been looking," Alex says nervously. Mage and Chalk face palmed in sync. "Let's just start going to the next route, I'm looking forward to catching a new pokemon!" Sky said excitedly. "Oh yeah that's true, none of us have gotten a second pokemon for our team yet, I think it's time we finally get a new team member for each of our teams" I said. "I think we should take a trip to the pokecenter, our pokemon have been through a lot in that gym" Aria suggested. "Sounds like a plan" I said. We all headed towards the pokecenter to get our pokemon healed up. We left very quickly after getting our pokemon healed. We headed towards route 2 and I noticed something very much different comparing route 1 and 2. Route 2 has trainers roaming around. There is one rule, which isn't really a rule but everyone does it, and if you don't do it, you're gonna look like a weirdo. This rule is "if you go face to face with a trainer that isn't part of your group, you must battle them". This route had a lot of trainers, so we all knew that we'd have to battle these trainers to get through. This is gonna take a while to get through.
It had been at least 20 minutes and none of us could catch a thing, and the trainers were getting very annoying. "Come on, can we just catch one thing!" I said in frustration. "Tell me about it, why is it so difficult to catch just a small pokemon" Chalk said annoyed. We tried countless times trying to catch something but we failed so much! We are gonna run out of pokeballs at this rate. I decided to keep my pokeballs until I want a certain pokemon, same with mage. "Guys, I have an idea," Sky said with confidence. She saw a jigglypuff in the wild and decided to go up to it without sending out her chikorita. "What's she doing, she needs to take out her pokemon to weaken it!" Aria said, sounding concerned. Sky slowly walked up to the jigglypuff as the jigglypuff stared at her. Once getting close enough, she reached out her hand for the jigglypuffs forehead, but not exactly close enough to touch it. The jigglypuff was confused to see what was happening. "There is no way this works, this breaks literally every way to catch pokemon!" Alex said. Sky closed her eyes and waited there. After about 30 seconds, the jigglypuff slowly came towards Sky's hand, eventually touching it. Sky opened her eyes to see the jigglypuff smiling happily. With her other hand she took out a pokeball and tapped the jigglypuff lightly with it. "No shot this actually works" Chalk says in disbelief. The pokeball shook once. Twice. And now three times. We heard a click afterwards, she had caught the jigglypuff. "Oh my god she's done it!" I said in excitement. I ran up to Sky and hugged her. "Maybe fighting the pokemon before trying to catch isn't always the answer" Sky said calmly. Seeing Sky being able to catch it gave us a sense of drive to catch one.
So we all tried using her tactic... and it failed. Back to weakening pokemon, which still didn't work. The route was about to end and we could see the pokecenter in the far distance. But we didn't want to go there straight away, some of us still wanted to try and catch a pokemon. Chalk was nearly about to give up, so he decided to give it one more shot towards an electrike. He weakened it and threw his last few pokeballs. The first pokeball he threw, the electrike broke out of it. The second one he threw though... "Thats one, two, three! I caught an electrike!" Chalk said in relief. "Good job Chalk!" Sky said happy for him. Aria had decided to give up and save her pokeballs alongside me and mage. Alex gave up and threw a pokeball behind in frustration. We were all gonna head to the pokecenter to sleep since it was turning night until we heard a faint click noise. We all looked back in confusion. Alex ran back towards the route to find her pokeball. Alex looked through the grass looking for it and eventually brought her head up and extended her arm up into the sky with a pokeball in hand. She then ran over to us. "So what did you catch?" I asked. "We are about to find out," Alex said. She threw the pokeball and a cutiefly came out. "Really just a little fly?!" Alex said frustrated as she sent the pokemon back into the ball. "Hey, their evolution is really good, but yeah at this stage, it's pretty weak. But hey at least you caught something" I said trying to lighten up the mood. "Let's just head towards the pokecenter. It's been a long day for us" Aria said. We all headed towards the pokecenter to get our pokemon healed one last time for the day. We headed upstairs to see a lot of beds, some already occupied. We all chose our bed and slept. I just hope tomorrow will go more smoothly.
