Moon's Secrets

Oh moon, you cold and bright,

Staring down at us each and every night,

A stalker in the endless dark,

Watching as we drive or walk.

As a child, I scowled at you,

Wondering why you followed too,

But now I see your lonely plight,

A solitary figure in the night.

Did your family leave you behind,

Or did you choose to be confined,

To orbit Earth, forever alone,

A guardian watching over all we've known.

You've seen the birth of countless love,

And the pain of heartbreak that we shove,

Deep inside, where no one can see,

Except for you, dear moon, up high and free.

Your heart must be so very big,

To comfort us with just a fig,

Of light and hope in the darkest hour,

A symbol of love, unending power.

Do you mourn our losses and our pain,

Or are you just a constant refrain,

A steady presence, always near,

To listen to our every fear.

Do you have lovers, dear moon above,

Or are you faithful to the skies you love,

Do you feel pain or shed tears,

Or just rotate through the years.

I trust you blindly, dear friend,

For you'll be with me until the end,

Through every tear and every laugh,

A steady presence on my behalf.

Through every pain and every joy,

You are my constant, my sweet fay,

So shine on, dear moon, bright and true,

For I will always, truly love you.
