Time went by so fast and now I find myself back at the front steps of RHH as usual. Today was somewhat different though. It felt like I had gone from a caterpillar to a butterfly now that I'm dating Clay. I still seems like this is all a cruel joke, but I know he wouldn't do that to me. My heart fluttered in gratefulness for the fact that this is real. As if on cue, my now boyfriend slides up behind me and grasps onto my hand. I jump from the touch until realizing who it is then squeezing his hand gently.
"Ready to face today, Y/n?" He grins at me and takes no a step towards the entrance of the school.
"I don't know..." I joke, putting on a mock nervous face, making Clay chuckle sweetly.
To my dissatisfaction, he lets go of his hold on my hand. But then I get flustered as I see what he was doing. While holding the door open for me he says, "Have no fear! For I, your personal knight in shining armor will help you conquer the day's challenges~" using his free arm, he gestures to me to walk through the door.
I couldn't help but play along with his sweet shenanigans, "I'm not sure about the shining armor, but you are a very handsome knight. Thank you for protecting me." I try to put on a flirtatious look, but it's clear I'm far to bashful for that. Nonetheless, it makes Clay's eyes widen and cheeks darken. Causing me to wonder what I ever did to deserve someone like him.
Clay and Y/n wandered through the hallways together, awkwardly brushing against each other now and then. Both not wanting to make the other uncomfortable with such excessive touch so early in the relationship, but yearning for it badly. They first went to Clay's locker because it's the closer one. He took a hold of his lock but before twisting in his combination, he looked over at me. Teasingly he remarked, "don't peak!"
Y/n pushed her bottom lip out in a pout, "I thought I'd be an exception now that I'm your girlfriend." Just by saying that a shiver went down her spine from excitement not of the word, but from that it's not just a fantasy anymore.
"Sorry, there's no exceptions! Can't have anybody knowing my combination. What if they steal all the coupons I keep in there?" He exclaimed. With a sigh, Y/n turns around to let him unlock his locker. She couldn't help but laugh to herself over his childishness. "Okay, I'm all set Y/n." His voice right behind her caused her to jolt again. Noticing, Clay asked in concern, "you've been kinda jumpy for quite a while now, is everything okay?"
"Yeah, yup I'm just fine haha!" Y/n waved her hand in dismissal, "no need to worry about me." The tall boy's eyebrows furrowed slightly as he brushed a stray curl out of his face.
Shrugging his shoulders he sighed, "whatever you say, I trust you. If there's anything bugging you, tell me. That's what I'm here for, yknow?" He set a hand on her shoulder. Not quite fully on it but it hovering above. Still, it was comforting to the girl.
I promise I'll tell you right away if anything is bothering me. But right now I'm fine, okay?" She gave a small smile to assure him that everything is fine. He smiled softly back, glad that she's alright.
The stop at Y/n's locker was brief. She only needed to grab one textbook and a duo-tang with some lined paper for notes.
"All set?" The raven haired teen inquired. In response Y/n gave a quick thumbs up, the movement causing her h/c hair to swish slightly. With that they were on their way to the first class of the day.
Both Y/n and Clay were startled from a hand reaching out from the shadow cast by the lockers tapped the shoulder of the girl. From the darkness emerged Jasper. "Oh, I'm sorry Y/n. I didn't mean to scare you like that." He rasped out. It seemed like he hadn't talked all weekend.
"Haha, all good Jasper!" She laughed out, "just wasn't expecting you there." His yellow eyes seemed to glimmer in delight at the sound of her voice.
"Y/n, do you know who this is? I don't think I've seen him around before." Clay came up and wrapped a protective arm around her waist, unintentionally filling her stomach with butterflies. Noticing this, Jasper's illuminated expression noticeably darkened before he fixed it into a forced smile.
Y/n gasped, "I haven't introduced you guys yet!" She shuffled over to stand in between the two while still having Clay's lanky arm placed on her. She pointed to each other while saying, "Clay, this is my friend Jasper. Jasper, this Clay."
Clay spoke up first, "hey there! Nice to meet you man." He put on his classic smile, displaying his teeth widely. Sliding off of Y/n, he lifted his hand and waved in greeting.
"I've seen you around before." Jasper spoke softly, as if it was a great difficulty to even look at Clay. Nonetheless, his smile still stood. It was shallow, but Clay figured he was just shy.
"We're all in history class together in first block, so how about we walk together?" The girl inquired, her e/c eyes shifting between the two boys. Jasper was more hesitant to agree to it, yet he still nodded along to it for Y/n's sake. Soon after, the three were walking past the crowds of people and through the hallway together. Jasper to Y/n's left and Clay to her right.
The air felt thick and the silence between them worsened it. Trying to lessen this, Clay decided it was best to make small talk with Jasper so that he could get a bit out of his shell. "So, how did you meet Y/n?"
Jasper's skin prickled in annoyance, but before he could speak he was quickly interrupted by Y/n, "we uh... we met a couple weeks ago. Yeah we had a group project together in, um, one of the classes we share."
Oh.
Oh.
She's lying.
Does Clay not know? Does she not trust him enough?
This is good.
I can work with this.
Deciding to go along with it, Jasper boosts the lie by adding, "in shop class we had to work together for a project since her original partner wasn't here." He grinned slyly towards Y/n who returned it with a secretive grateful look.
"That's pretty cool! I wanted to take shop, even put it down as one of the classes I would've like to take on the class registration. I guess that it was too full!" Clay said, scratching his head lightly.
Jasper couldn't help but remark, "hm, that's too bad. Maybe next year?" He felt some sort of pride from sharing one thing in common with Y/n that Clay didn't. It made him straighten out his back and rise his chest ever so slightly.
As soon as the group approached the classroom both boys rushed to the door to open it. Noticing, Clay backed down a little to let Jasper open the door. Taking that chance, the boy's pale hand gripped the doorknob tightly and flung the door open. This stunned Y/n as she had never seen him act so hastily before. Usually she saw him in a seated position, never really moving fast. The trio headed through the door and into their seats. Not a moment later, the bell rang to signal the start of block one. Y/n sighed, feeling that this was going to be a long day.
[I don't really have much to say here aha. My trip to Mexico is finished but I'm ready for some down time. I've got some days off so if I find the motivation you might get another chapter soon.
So far, which love interest is your favorite? Clay or Jasper? Is there anything specific you guys would like to see with one of them?]
