being in a car.
its one of my favorite things to be in, though i hardly do anymore. sigh.
buuut hey! i have some awesome memories from being in a car driving places, the main part of this chapter is covering the trips ive been on in my shitty memory tucked away somewhere! i also have my favorite pastimes that, for like only one, are unfavored by my family.
so, pastimes first, sleeping!
the unfavorable. when im in a car, everything melts away. stress, uncomfiness (thats not a word), even my thoughts; cars are therapeutic! a long car ride, medium or short, they practically rock me to sleep. yeah, no, nobody wants that when im in the car. im forced to stay up when we go on long car rides because im a bad influence. let me explain.
sssso, you immediately know im asleep when you hear me snore. nobody can control how loud their snore is, right? when im asleep and i notice im snoring, like i hear it, i get embarassed and tuck my head into the covers or shut my mouth (my mouth gapes open, too. thats another sign im sleeping.) anyway, there were times when (since ive been with my sister for a few years, i go on trips with her and her family all the time) we'll be on a family trip annnd we always get up early, like the sun is slowly, visibly rising while were on the freeway early, ill be knocked out first. i always have! i start snoring, and this only happened like once, but i made my brother in law (the driver) start falling asleep as hes driving, too, with my fucking snores. most car rides i can stay up now, or ill just be deep in my imagination until we get back home, but my sister used to keep me awake during every car ride bc that was dangerous, rightfully!! maybe snoring should be a critical power if i were a villain.
oh! uh, and other pastimes, not even cared for because im super quiet and..who would care? (also less dangerous) is imagining myself in video games, thinking up some wacky character parkouring his way through every zooming obstacle outside my window, and only if something makes me upset like an argument or something, dissociate. though this is rare! thank the gods.
a good ol trip i remember was going to seattle with my dad in probably late spring. he came one early day after a while of planning, talked to everyone in my sister's house (where i really began staying at that point) for like an hour, kinda going over how my actual brother should have came with us, and then we were off. thats my dad's routine everytime i see him! he says hes gonna leave, goes on talking for an hour, says hes gonna leave AGAIN and strikes another convo before leaving.
anyway! the ride there was fun! it was just us and a full (probably not) 19 hours. im going off of what google says from where i lived. we jammed to music in a low rider cattlelac that did not have any air conditioning (this will be important) but thankfully had heating! remember, spring, so the weather was bipolar. i was on my phone often times because he would be talking on the phone loud with his car speaker to my sister who we were gonna stay with, or at least i was!! the snacks and food on the way was awesome duh, but being there with my dad was even better! it got dark and we werent even that close to the halfway point of our destination at like 10-1 pm-am, so we settled into a gas station parking lot, grabbed neck pillows, and we were out. the morning, at like 7 is when we finally made it and was finding the house! we got mcdonalds for breakfast, for some lucky reason i got to get an iced coffee (look hes just rad like that), and we stayed for probably 2 weeks, felt longer.
my sister's house was amazing! my dad stayed with my other sister, and i was bummed but meh, the house was small! i stayed with my sister's hectic children, all of them got on my nerves in some way, plus i wasnt out of school. yup. i had to bring my textbooks and chromebook and finish school there with the help of my oldest in days (idfk) niece and sister. besides that, i often went on wilderness sabbaticals with my niece and younger nephew! we would walk all around the block, or at least once (i was chubber back in 2020, the year of this trip so it was harder for me to keep up), we'd walk to this dirt covered place with big dirt hills and chill there, and before we'd leave, my niece got my sisters credit card so we could buy snacks for on the way. damn, i could never do that, let alone walk around the neighborhood without an adult with me! i felt so cool tbh. i went places, discovered just how big cosco was for the first time, i have BEAUTIFUL pictures of a park we walked around and some ducks on my old phone, got my hair done, and struggled with my dad and sister a few times bc i was in my rebellion stage. best of all, i finished school there, with a passing grade (oo very rare for 2020 moogee)!
