"Oh my gosh, that's disgusting!" I laughed.
It was our fifth day together and we had spent the previous days hanging out and going on dates. Darrell had quickly come to terms with being my mate (a lot faster than I'd have thought but I'm not complaining) so we decided that we'd get to know each other a bit more before I took him home and introduced him to my pack.
Today, we had gone out to a spot at the edge of a forest for a picnic and were now just lounging around on the grass, enjoying the late afternoon breeze and sunlight.
The forest was a vibrant and lush oasis, teeming with life and color. Towering trees, their trunks sturdy and strong, stretched towards the sky, their canopies a kaleidoscope of greens, from the deepest emerald to the lightest mint. The leaves rustled softly in the gentle breeze, releasing a sweet, earthy scent that filled the air.
The trees grew closely together, their branches intertwining above, creating a natural canopy that filtered the sunlight, casting dappled shadows on the ground below.
Wildflowers, a rainbow of colors, bloomed amidst the underbrush, their delicate petals swaying in the breeze. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming flora and the earthy scent of damp soil.
The atmosphere was peaceful, serene, and enchanting, a perfect haven for Darrell and I to escape the world and connect with nature and each other.
"It was a dare and I was drunk!" Darrell defended.
"You drank toilet water, there's no going back from that Dar," I said as I continued laughing. "Remind me to never kiss you, especially not when you're drunk."
"Oh, come on, you can't do that to me," Darrell pouted. "Don't you know I have hyperkissophilia?"
"You have hyper- what now?" I was rolling on the grass, holding my stomach from laughing too much.
"I'm extremely addicted to kisses and I'll die if I don't get enough," Darrell said matter-of-factly.
"You can't be serious Darrell." I had no idea how he could even say that with a straight face.
"Well, I am, and speaking of kisses..." Darrell continued, pointing to his cheek.
"Darrell!" I squealed, turning my face away in order to hide my cheeks that were quickly turning a very unmanly red.
"Well, if you won't kiss me, I guess I'll just have to do it myself," he said as he approached me. Just as he was about to grab me, I got up and made a run for it, laughing as I did so.
"Hey, that's not fair," he whined, getting up from the ground as well and chasing after me.
I decided to slow down my pace to give Darrell the illusion that he could catch up to me but I underestimated him because the moment I did, he sprinted towards me at full force and tackled me to the ground. For a human, he's quite fast plus the fact that I also overlooked his long legs that worked to his advantage.
"Oh my gosh, Darrell," I said, struggling to catch my breath, the hysterical laughter not really helping. I felt like a little kid again just playing around with Darrell like this. No responsibilities, no worries, just me and my mate.
"This is what you get for tricking me and trying to run away." He pinned me to the ground and peppered kisses all over my face as I struggled to break free from his grasp through fits of laughter.
Suddenly the air felt different and heavy with lust as I looked at Darrell hovering above me and I wanted nothing more than to crash my lips on his.
But as much as I wanted to give in to the urge, I knew we needed to take things slow. We had all the time in the world to explore each other, and rushing into things wouldn't do us any good and the hesitance in Darrell's eyes told me he wasn't ready to go that far.
