Chapter 27

~Danielle's POV~

I was shocked and hurt that Dustin was cheating on me. I ran to my jeep tears burning my eyes and I got out of their as soon as I could. I barely saw Dustin run between two trucks before I made my way on the road. The last place I wanted to be was at our house so I just let my Jeep go where she wanted.

I pulled off the road and headed back to the river bend. When I got out I pulled my overalls off and set them on the floorboard. My feet wandered over to the edge of the water and just watched and looked. Butterflies danced around in the air and frogs croaked happily. I watched everything from my blurry eyes and I couldn't stop crying.

I told myself over and over that Dustin wasn't like that and he would never do something like that to me but it didn't work. The air was colder around the water and the breeze blew threw the trees and made me shiver. Being cold was the last thing on my mind right now.

I stared and stared at the water lost in my own thoughts. I let the tears flow freely not making any move to wipe them away. Something was dropped over my shoulder and I looked down to see Dustin's varsity jacket. I didn't even hear him pull in.

I listened to everything Dustin had to say and ran everything over in my mind. The way Dustin was talking and the water forming in his eyes. He was absolutely scared to lose me.

I knew Dustin was telling the truth the way he was about to cry and how he was watching my eyes seeking for forgiveness.

I couldn't say anything but I missed being in his arms. I threw myself into his arms and continued to cry into his chest. Once I start it takes awhile to stop. Dustin's arms immediately squeezed me and let the pain out. His hands ran through my hair and calmed down faster.

"I love you Dustin." His arms tightened and I could tell he was smiling.

"I love you to." After everything was fine between us and we were both calmed down we headed out.

"Baby can we leave my jeep here I just want to be with you." He nodded his head and smiled. Dustin's fingers pushed some hair back from my face and left a kiss on my forehead. I ran back over to my jeep and grabbed my phone. I saw I had 23 missed calls from Dustin with 15 text. Maddy had 17 missed calls with 10 texts. I locked my screen and resumed my spot next to Dustin walking to his truck.

Dustin opened the door and helped me up into the cab.

"My lady." I smiled and rolled my eyes and continued to get situated. Dustin sent me a wink and climbed in on his side.

The truck ride was peaceful. I was glad to be in Dustin's arms again. I think that those two little fights have gotten us so much closer. We know what we can stand strong in and not let each other go when we get in a small argument.

The song changed and music filled the comfortable silence. I closed my eyes but immediately opened them back up when Dustin yelled and hit the brakes.

"Oh shit." Dustin quickly pulled over and ran around the truck. I jumped out and followed Dustin down into a corn field.

"Oh my god." I breathed out into the summer air. A white ford had swerved to miss a deer that was laying in the road and had hit the guard rail and rolled more than once into the field. The truck was upside down their was no way the truck wasn't totaled.

We ran over to the drivers side and I made sure that the driver was ok as Dustin ran over to make sure their was no passengers or kids in the back seat.

"Hello are you ok you need to stay with us." The side of his face was covered in blood from hitting the steering wheel and his shoulder was dislocated from the blow from the seatbelt.
