Annabelle's Mood Board/Aesthetic ^^

Westchester, New York, 1944

A clatter from downstairs woke me up. I slowly got out of my bed and opened my bedroom door. To my surprise, my twin Charles, was out of his bedroom too. "Did you hear that?" He asked in my head and in response, I nodded. Charles picked up a baseball bat, but I used my power to pry it from his hands. We hesitantly headed down the stairs and came to the kitchen. I had the bat raised, ready to attack if need be. But to our surprise, it was our mother. "Mother. What are you...we thought you were a burgular!" Charles exclaimed. She abruptly shut the fridge, and stood up straight. "I didn't mean to scare you darlings. I was just getting a snack." She told us, but I raised an eyebrow at her words. "Go back to bed. What's the matter?" She asked. "Go on, back to bed. I'll make you a hot chocolate." She smiled, crouching to our level. I looked toward Charles and he must have been thinking the same thing. I gave him a subtle nod, and he turned back to the woman. "Who are you? And what have you done with our mother?!" I asked, and a look of fear struck her face. "Our mother has never set foot in this kichen in her life. And she certainly never made us a hot chocolate. Unless you count ordering the maid to do it." Charles explained in her mind. Whoever she was started to reveal themselves, and a small blue girl with bright yellow eyes and red hair appeared. Charles and I looked in awe. He smiled and the girl looked confused. "You're not scared of me?" She asked. "We've always believed we couldn't be the only ones in the world." Charles grinned. "The only ones who were...different. And here you are. Annabelle Xavier, and this is my brother Charles." I added, holding out my hand. "Raven." She smiled sweetly. "You're hungry and alone. Take whatever you want. We've got lots of food, you don't have to steal. In fact, you never have to steal again." Charles told her, to which she matched his grin.

Raven and I watched Charles flirt with a young woman at the bar, and cringed. It had been like this for the past year, since he had started writing his Thesis. "Does he ever learn?" I asked the much older Raven in disguise, in which she scoffed. We watched as he rambled on about mutation, until the pair of us got up, and walked over to them just as they were toasting. "Mutant and Proud." She said. "Chin chin." Charles agreed. "Hey." Raven said, announcing our presence. "I guess we'll have to buy our own drinks." I teased. "I'm sorry, one cola and one whiskey." He called to the bartender. "Charles here, was just telling me that I'm like one of the first sea creatures that grew legs." She told us. "Tiny bit sexier." He added suggestively. "I'm sorry, these are my sisters, Raven and Annabelle." He introduced. "Hi." We said, shaking her hand. "Amy. And what do you both study?" Amy asked. "Bartending." "Waitressing." We both said at the same time. "Oh look, you have Heterochromia too." She smiled. "Sorry what?" Charles asked, and I smirked at her. "Look at her eye!" She exclaimed. He turned to look at her, and sighed. "Right. Raven, get your coat please." He said, slamming a five pound note onto the desk.
